Philip and his son, Little Jimmy, followed the soldiers into Red Stone City.
Looking around, he saw that just beyond the city entrance lay an enormous square, more than two hundred meters long and wide.
Beyond the square stood clusters of buildings divided into numerous sections. The Stone Towers were three or five stories tall, packed densely together. People constantly entered and exited them, but all hurried along as if busy with something.
Numerous soldiers patrolled and stood guard on the streets and in the square, and security was quite tight.
The soldier who had brought them into the city led him and his son to a corner of the square, where several tables had been set up with people seated behind them.
Nearly a hundred people stood in line before the tables. At the soldier's instruction, he and his son joined the very end of the queue. After waiting nearly half an hour, they finally reached the tables.
By then, he understood that the people behind the tables were responsible for registration, recording information about him and his son.
They thoroughly asked about his and his son's names, ages, addresses, past experiences, and various other details. Afterward, they pointed to one side and told him to take his son to line up in another corner. This time, they were to undergo health examinations.
That day, Philip and his son spent most of their time standing in various lines, registering information, undergoing physical examinations, collecting supplies, and so on.
