All-Out Pursuit

Shande watched the black bear vigorously lick him. He could not help raising his hand again, but he did not bring it down. He merely let out a soft sigh, not knowing what to say.

This reminded the black bear of something.

The black bear got up and jogged a short distance away. Using its paw, it pushed aside a stone and picked up the honeycomb it had hidden earlier. It ran back to Shande, held out the honeycomb, and made several licking motions with its tongue, showing Shande how to eat it.

Shande looked at the black bear. "..."

The black bear looked at Shande with its tongue hanging out, trying its best to please him. "Pfft, pfft..."

Shande pursed his lips, then moved. Naturally, he was not going to lick honey like the black bear. Perhaps the black bear before him behaved like a dog, but that did not mean he had to act like a bear.

So, like a normal human being, he extended a finger, dipped it into the honey in the comb, put it in his mouth, and sucked hard.

The black bear watched Shande intently, waiting for his reaction. In its view, it had offered its most precious possession to this human. No matter what, the other party could not kill it now. He should even reward it.

But after waiting for quite a while, Shande showed no reaction at all. That was because he had not tasted anything—eating a mouthful of honey was no different from swallowing a mouthful of air. His lips, mouth, tongue, and taste buds received no feedback of deliciousness. He could only barely sense something flowing down his throat into his stomach.
