Forest Ancient Castle

Night lay over the earth like a thin veil.

More than ten li outside Galan City, at the heart of a forest, stood an abandoned, dilapidated ancient castle.

It was clear that the castle had been abandoned for a long time. The walls, built from massive blocks of bluestone, were riddled with cracks. Large patches of paint had peeled from the top of the Main Castle. Weeds grew wildly both inside and out, while the corners were carpeted with lush green, even dark green moss.

Yet for some reason, a faint light was shining from within the castle at this moment, as though someone was moving about inside.

"Rustle, rustle, rustle..."

Footsteps sounded outside the castle as a solitary figure approached. He crouched beneath a tree outside the castle, narrowed his eyes as he surveyed the entire place, then slowly raised his head to reveal a deathly pale face. It was Shande.

Shande still looked wretched. His clothes were tattered, and their surface was covered in filthy blood—some of it his own, the rest belonging to the Truth Society Wizards he had killed. However, Shande had recovered considerably. Though he had not regained one hundred percent of his fighting strength, it was at least no longer affecting his ability to perform normally.

Shande studied the castle intently. His ice-ball-like eyes slowly turned, and after watching for a long while in the summer heat, his entire body began to radiate the biting chill of winter.
