"Couldn't you have just refused? Why did you have to kill him?"
A trace of disgust flashed through the Dragon Speaker's eyes. "Because that guy spoke disrespectfully to me and made me sick."
"So I killed him."
Cao Xing nodded. "Then he deserved it."
"But what exactly are the Watchers? And why did they want to recruit you?"
Hearing this question, the Dragon Speaker gathered her thoughts before replying.
"The Watchers proclaim themselves to be the protectors of humanity, defending humans from the threats of other races."
"But they are a gathering of madmen."
Cao Xing looked at her in confusion. "Protectors who are also madmen?"
"Why does that sound so contradictory?"
"It is indeed contradictory."
The woman nodded and said, "Do you know what their ideals are?"
"No."
"Their ideal is for all humans to live as equals, so that human society will no longer have oppression."
"In other words, they want to overthrow the feudal system that has endured across the continent for tens of thousands of years!"
"They want a revolution! A revolution against those nobles!"
Cao Xing was even more puzzled after hearing that.
