"Who knows?" Ignorance chuckled and gave the Black Blade an idle flourish, pointing its tip at Ichigo. "Maybe you could find out firsthand. You might even have a fingernail left over."
That wasn't reassuring at all!
Ichigo took a deep breath.
"Don't tell me..." Ignorance hesitated at the sight of Ichigo's pale face. "You don't actually think your real body came in here, do you?"
Ichigo froze. "Huh?"
"Relax. Just think of this as a vivid dream," Ignorance explained. "We never planned to give you a boost in spiritual pressure to begin with."
Ichigo looked down at his Shinigami uniform.
Now that he thought about it, he had entered in his Soul Reaper form, already wearing his Shinigami uniform. He had assumed Aunt had yanked his soul straight out of his body. He hadn't expected it to be a dream.
Still...
"Even so, how are we supposed to learn anything against that kind of destructive power?" Ichigo asked, turning toward the vast chasm with an uneasy look.
It was like asking a child with a pocketknife to fight a laser cannon. There was nothing to learn from that.
No, there was one thing.
If he ever ran into something like that again, he should stay well away.
"...You have a point." Ignorance considered it for a moment, and the black flames wrapped around her Zanpakuto abruptly went out. She raised the blade and glanced along its length. "I'll train you with attacks at this level instead."
"I won't use my abilities. I'll attack with raw spiritual energy, at roughly your level."
"Your task today is to make me move from this spot."
Ignorance lowered her Zanpakuto until its tip lightly touched the ice.
"Make you move..."
Ichigo and Ishida exchanged a glance. Neither saw any relief in the other's eyes.
