Everyone already knew that Senna was Yuko's distant cousin.
The teachers in the office felt deeply sorry for Yuko. How could someone so beautiful and clever have such a dimwitted cousin?
"How is that an excuse?" Yuko turned in her chair to face Miyu, her red eyes full of sincerity. "Miyu, you don't think I'm lying to you, do you?"
"What do you think?" Miyu rolled her eyes.
She hadn't believed a word of it!
Yuko clicked her tongue and looked away. If she'd known Miyu would be this hard to convince, she would've asked Rukia for help.
"Ahem. It hurts when you say that. Am I really so untrustworthy in your eyes?" Yuko muttered, pretending to pout.
"Because it's too much of a coincidence." Miyu rubbed her brow and sighed. "Who takes homework camping? And then just happens to lose it?"
Even so, Miyu gave Yuko a way out. "Could she have lied to you on purpose? Are you sure she finished it?"
"Absolutely." Yuko nodded solemnly. "Besides, going on a trip doesn't stop anyone from doing homework, does it?"
"Even so..."
Seeing that her story needed a little more force, Yuko shifted the blame. "If you must blame someone, blame that brown bear."
"Huh?"
Miyu froze.
"Here's what happened." Yuko cleared her throat and began improvising. "We were camping deep in the mountains when an eerie wind blew through. A wild brown bear over two meters tall burst out. It didn't steal any food. It went straight for Senna's backpack, which was stuffed with homework."
Yuko told the story with a straight face, even acting out the bear pouncing.
Miyu nearly lost it. "An eerie wind? What is this, Water Margin?"
Yuko remained solemn. "I said it was a bear, Miyu. Have you even read Water Margin? That
