Background

Tanjiro was a kind charcoal seller living on the mountain with his mother, Kie, and his siblings. His goodwill made him well known among the local townspeople. 55 156

After Muzan attacked the Kamado home, Tanjiro returned to find Nezuko wounded and the rest of his family missing. He immediately chose to carry Nezuko down the mountain and seek help rather than remain frozen by panic. Yuko had secretly moved the other Kamados to safety, but Nezuko transformed into a demon during the incident. 60 62

Giyu Tomioka directed Tanjiro to train under Sakonji Urokodaki at Mount Sagiri. Tanjiro first learned Water Breathing, then received additional guidance from Yuko, who recognized that Sun Breathing suited him better than Water Breathing. 60 69 70

Aftermath

Following Muzan's defeat, Tanjiro attends the Corps' memorial service for the fallen. He receives gratitude from surviving swordsmen and support personnel, but insists that Muzan's defeat was not the accomplishment of one person alone. 441
