Su Xiao and the other two fell silent as well.
The silence did not last long. As the Delamain Taxi carried them out of the bleak, deserted Northside Industrial District and into the bustling, neon-lit Japantown...
"I'll get out here, thank you."
"Pull over, Delamain."
The Delamain Taxi turned toward the curb and slowly came to a stop.
Goro Takemura opened the door, but hesitated. "About my earlier proposal..."
Chapter 161: But I refuse (3K)
Su Xiao shook his head. "We won't give false testimony, no matter what it's for."
Goro Takemura took no offense.
"Planning, preparations... these things take time. Help me, and you'll be well rewarded."
"For now, I need to meet a few friends and ask for their help. Once my people in Arasaka are ready, I'll call you again."
"People change. Perhaps by then, you'll see things differently."
Seeing how unwilling Goro Takemura was to give up, Su Xiao stopped rejecting him so coldly and offered a vague answer instead. "We'll talk about it then."
Once Goro Takemura left, Jack spoke eagerly.
"I'm dying of thirst. What do you guys want to drink? My treat."
Su Xiao glanced out the window. There happened to be a bar a short distance from where they had parked.
He knew Jack loved booze more than life itself. Besides, during the past few days holed up together in the safe house, Jack had not had a single drop-Su Xiao neither smoked nor drank, so while he had stocked the safe house with everything else, there were no cigarettes or alcohol.
Jack had nearly gone mad from deprivation.
Now that they had finally gotten out, there was even a bar right next to them.
Jack simply could not hold out any longer.
"Nothing for me. Bring V a bottle of tequila."
