Detective River Ward, who had driven him there, was not in the car.
Where had he gone?
Su Xiao turned his head and looked to the side.
Then he got his answer.
Wearing a trench coat, River was blocking the alley beside the adult toy store. This was not his first time there, so he knew the store's back door connected to the alley.
River was worried his informant would use the chance to slip out through the back door, so after Su Xiao went inside, he got out of the car and blocked the alley.
But he waited for a long time without seeing the informant emerge. Just as he began to wonder what was going on, he suddenly heard someone calling his name.
He looked in the direction of the voice and saw Su Xiao waving at him.
River did not go over immediately. He stood where he was and looked into the alley a few more times. Only after confirming that no one would be coming out did he jog over.
"How long were you in there? What was the situation? Did he confess?"
"He told us everything. He was actually quite cooperative."
Su Xiao returned to the car with River and then told him everything he had heard from River's informant.
At the end, Su Xiao asked, "What do you think?"
River thought for a moment.
"A club with business that good can't just close down for no reason. The losses from shutting down for even a single day would be unimaginable, let alone for so many days in a row. I've never seen a business owner willing to turn his back on money."
River's thoughts matched Su Xiao's. Both of them felt that something was suspicious.
