Lucy blinked, her Militech Cybernetic Eye zooming in on the distant scenery, then nodded. "I see it."

"Hack in, then tell us what's going on inside."

"Got it."

A red glow lit up Lucy's eyes while everyone else waited patiently.

Several minutes passed before the glow faded.

"You were right. There's nobody left inside the airport."

"Did you see any signs of damage or explosions?"

Lucy shook her head. "No. I checked every area, inside and out. There are no signs of damage."

"That's strange."

Su Xiao had thought terrorists or someone suffering from cyberpsychosis had forced the airport to close.

But if neither was the case, why had the airport closed and even brought in the police to seal it off?

Any store would try to stay open as much as possible, because customers could only come in to shop while it was open.

And for a "store" like an airport, shutting down would cause enormous financial losses.

The airport's management and the Salamanca Group couldn't possibly be unaware of that.

"Su," Jack glanced at Jose and Maria, who were sitting in the back between V and Lucy, afraid to speak for fear of disturbing them. Over the comms channel, he asked, "Could this have something

to do with them?"

Su Xiao also cast them a quick glance.

"It's possible."

If the Salamanca Group already knew the hostages had escaped, it would make sense for them to contact the Tijuana police and have the airport sealed off.

After all, flying was the fastest way out of Tijuana.

And if that option was cut off, they could only leave by car.

Tijuana wasn't far from San Diego City in California-only nineteen kilometers away-and San Diego City also had an airport where they could catch a flight back to Night City.
