Takemura... he couldn't possibly fail to understand that.
So he felt it wouldn't hurt to accompany Takemura and take a look.
"When?"
"Can you come out now?"
"Now?"
"It wouldn't be convenient during the day. Arasaka's eyes are everywhere in the city. There couldn't be a better time to meet than midnight."
Su Xiao found it rather ironic that Takemura would say something like that.
Takemura had devoted his entire life to Arasaka, yet now he had to hide from Arasaka.
"Now is fine, but you have to answer one question first."
"Ask."
"If you don't want me to give false testimony, then why do you want me to accompany you to meet this person? Are you worried he'll harm you? Do you want me to act as your bodyguard?"
Giving false testimony was impossible. He would never do that in his life.
Even an idiot knew that giving false testimony for Takemura was essentially volunteering to become a pawn, allowing Arasaka's higher-ups to manipulate him however they pleased.
It wasn't that Su Xiao was being paranoid. But if anyone thought that doing a little work would win them favor with a company's leaders, they might as well wash up and go to sleep.
And this was Arasaka they were talking about.
But he had already made it clear that he wouldn't give false testimony, so why did Takemura still want him to go?
"No. I trust him. We've both had plenty of chances to kill each other, and he's a man who values honor highly. He won't be corrupted by money. So I trust him."
"I want to ask you to testify for me, to prove that Arasaka Yorinobu sent 'Troy' to hunt me down because he wanted to silence me."
Goro Takemura lowered himself as much as he
