Background / History

Following the revival of spiritual energy, dimensional rifts appeared across Earth and alien demons invaded. Ordinary weapons proved ineffective against them; martial arts and Martial Artists became humanity's means of resistance. After humanity gradually reclaimed demon-occupied territory, Great Xia was re-established on the wasteland as a human kingdom. 1

Great Xia is named after Xia Wuji, recognized as humanity's first Martial Artist. The modern martial-artist system was later researched and formulated by Mu Changge, the First Saint of Humanity. 102

Alien demons remain an existential threat to Great Xia. Its defenses rely on Martial Artists, who fight at alien-demon battlefields, guard cities, and repel fierce-beast invasions so ordinary citizens can live in safety. 1 48

Society and Martial Arts

Martial Artists hold a transcendent social position because they are the principal force capable of resisting alien demons. Martial arts education begins at a young age, and the conventional college entrance examination has been replaced by a Martial Arts College Entrance Examination that assesses cultivation and martial talent. 1

Martial arts techniques are highly valued: even a Blood Qi Layer Two Martial Artist trained in martial arts can defeat an untrained Blood Qi Layer Three opponent. Low-grade Blood Qi Realm techniques can command five-figure prices when available. 7

Martial arts families possess significant resources and influence, but are expected to contribute to Great Xia's defense. When the Cloud City Bai Family was implicated in an attempted assassination of a Great Xia Martial Artist, its martial artists above the Blood Qi Realm were ordered to defend the Alien Demon Battlefield for twenty years. 24 25 26

Defense and Military Presence

Great Xia has driven alien demons beyond its core territory, establishing dedicated Alien Demon Battlefields and fortified cities to contain further invasions. Tianxing City, located within one such battlefield, serves as a frontline city against alien demons. 53

The Tianxing Great Wall is the first line of defense against alien demons. Its defenders sacrifice life force to protect Great Xia, and ascending the wall establishes a karmic connection and responsibility to defend it. 101

Tianxing City and Star Academy

• Tianxing City — A fortified frontline city whose walls bear evidence of constant warfare; its interior nevertheless remains populated and active. 57
• Star Academy — A martial academy established in Tianxing City rather than within Great Xia's interior. It recruits through its own evaluations and invitations rather than the Martial Arts College Entrance Examination. 53
• Tianxing Army — The sole legion guarding Tianxing City. Star Academy students who pass the Heart Questioning Steps automatically become members. 105
• Academy mission — Star Academy has protected the Tianxing route for forty-five years without allowing an alien demon to enter Great Xia from that direction. Its members pledge to be the first to resist should Great Xia face destruction. 66

The Ten Saints

The Ten Saints are Great Xia's foremost Martial Artists and the kingdom's stabilizing pillars against alien demons. Their power is described as the fundamental reason Great Xia can keep alien demons from invading Earth. 53

A Saint title is not permanently fixed to an individual. A person who surpasses all others in one of the recognized fields may become that field's Saint. 53

Internal Threats

Demonic Cult

The Demonic Cult consists of Great Xia defectors who serve alien demons as infiltrators and spies. It recruits by using martial arts as bait and is widely reviled, though Great Xia has been unable to eradicate it completely. 18

Demonic Cult activity includes attempts to assassinate Great Xia Martial Artists, incite civilian attacks, open dimensional rifts such as the Gate of Reception, and target major defenders including the Sword Saint. 43 49 50 53

Responsibility of Martial Artists

Great Xia's Martial Artists are expected to defend its territory and people from alien demons, Demonic Cult operatives, and fierce beasts. This responsibility extends from soldiers at the frontier to martial arts families and civilian Martial Artists during citywide crises. 48 49 50
