Uchiha Residential Area.

The blood covering the ground had dried layer upon layer, until only dark-brown traces remained. After most of the people had bled completely dry, the area finally fell silent again.

It was as quiet as dawn.

The night had passed, and daylight was beginning to brighten the sky.

Kakashi Hatake walked through a narrow alley. The stench of blood filled the air, stimulating his senses and allowing him to maintain a level of vigilance far beyond what was actually necessary, despite having been busy all night.

After walking a few steps and turning a corner, Kakashi saw someone sprawled facedown on the ground. The person was completely motionless, and the traces on the ground made it clear that he had lost a tremendous amount of blood.

Kakashi's footsteps instinctively faltered, but he quickly took two more steps. After reaching the person's side, he checked briefly and discovered that the man was thoroughly dead... He was another Uchiha shinobi.

Kakashi had lost count of how many times he had seen scenes like this tonight. Looking on the bright side, at least these people had been left whole, unlike the two Konoha Advisors who had participated in the split operation and suffered a much worse fate.

Thinking back on Yuhara's actions afterward, Kakashi felt they had been outrageously excessive. When ordinary shinobi faced oppression from the higher-ups, their standard response was no more than fleeing and becoming missing-nin. But what had Yuhara done? You want to frame me? Then die first.

Kakashi definitely could not have done something like that. Putting himself in that position, if he had been the one facing the accusations, he might truly have surrendered without resistance... He could only say, I really am the biological son of Konoha White Fang.
