Hekate asked Star what kind of egg it was.
A moment later, Star's reply came.
Mermaid Egg, Legendary Bloodline. It was likely left behind when the Mermaid race departed. Without the Mermaid race's hatching environment, it could only remain in egg form. The Sea Witch's aura can provide a hatching environment for it. You can give it to Furia to hatch.
Hekate froze.
A Mermaid!
A Legendary Bloodline!
What an unexpected windfall.
Although her luck with the Gift of Fate draws had been terrible lately, she had encountered two Legendary Bloodlines in a row. All things considered, her luck was not that bad.
At noon.
When Furia returned, Hekate gave her the egg and told her to hold it while she slept.
Furia could sense a comfortable ocean-like aura from the Mermaid Egg, so she did not refuse and placed it on her bed.
Then Hekate began helping Furia and Natasha with their Meditation.
In the blink of an eye, another month passed.
Hekate broke through to become a 7-star Grand Magus.
Ever since the Octopus Monster had fished up a Mermaid Egg for her last time, she had gone back every few days. But the Octopus Monster could only dig up glass, coral, and giant fish bones for her. It had truly stripped the surrounding waters clean, so she stopped going after that.
She returned to her daily routine of draws and cultivation.
This month, she had only drawn a Magic Level Gift once.
Hekate was not in a hurry. She would take it slowly. At best, it would take a month; at worst, two months. Then she would break through to become an Archmage.
But today, she had something extra to do.
After sending Natasha and Furia to class, Hekate flew to the large mountain range north of Uruk. The closer she got to the person she wanted to curse, the less magic power the curse would consume.
She had come here today to teach a lesson to the politicians who had dared to send people to test her a month ago.
This was not Earth. Before absolute power, any scheme was nothing more than a paper tiger.
Hekate said to Star, "Make me a list of everyone who arranged for people to assassinate me a month ago."
A gentle breeze brushed past her ears.
Roderick de Artus, Finance Minister of the Peters Kingdom, 6-star Great Mage...
Estella von Heil, Queen's Advisor of the Peters Kingdom, 3-star Great Mage...
Bernardo Corvi, New General of Peters, 8-star Great Mage...
Sophia Bartok, Queen of the Peters Kingdom, 6-star Great Mage...
They were all Great Mages, and all held important positions.
Hekate rubbed her chin. The overall strength of this Peters Kingdom did not seem very high. Even their queen was only a 6-star Great Mage, far inferior to Arthurx, the Corpse King of Chaos.
How did they dare tug on a tiger's whiskers?
Curious, Hekate asked about the Peters Kingdom's military strength.
The Peters Kingdom has an Elder Council. Its elders are all Magus-level powerhouses. The strongest is a 7-star Archmage, but they are quite old and will not act lightly.
Tch, only a 7-star Archmage.
If that is what the Peters Kingdom relies on, then I can say that you four are finished.
Hekate sneered.
Burn!
Burn every last one of them to hell!
Hekate repaid grudges without delay, immediately launching Fire Curse Techniques at all four powerful officials who had plotted against her.
Peters Kingdom.
Inside the lavish Finance Minister's office, Roderick suddenly felt an intense magical pressure descend upon him. Scorching flames erupted in an instant, while the Magic Equipment on his body lit up with shields that blocked all the flames outside.
"This... is a curse?!"
Terrified by the flames on his body, Roderick rolled across the floor. Then, shocked and enraged, he summoned the Court Wizard. Someone actually dared to curse him, the Finance Minister. Who could be so bold?
However, the Court Wizard looked at him with pity. "The other party is hidden behind the starry veil. There is no way to track them or retaliate. We cannot even dispel it. Their magic power is too strong."
"Finance Minister, the person you provoked is too powerful. There is nothing I can do."
"What?" Roderick was stunned. When had he provoked such a powerful enemy?
Wait!
The Uruk Kingdom!
They had learned from captives of the Chaos Kingdom that, aside from a terrifyingly powerful Storm Mage, the Uruk Kingdom also had an incredibly powerful curser whose curses could not be stopped by anyone!
Remembering this, Roderick's face instantly turned deathly pale.
They could even burn to death the 5-star Archmage King of Chaos. Wouldn't burning a mere 6-star Great Mage like him be as easy as burning a grasshopper?!
One minute later, his Magic Equipment burned out.
Roderick frantically swallowed potions and maintained his Magic Shield, but it only lasted three minutes. Once the time was up, he was immediately burned to ashes.
Queen's Advisor Estella was arranging exquisite formal gowns in her room, preparing for that evening's banquet. She was not wearing a single piece of Magic Equipment when the terrifying Fire Curse Technique descended upon her. After only a few agonized screams, she followed the Finance Minister's footsteps.
New General Bernardo lasted less than ten minutes before he too was burned into charcoal.
When Queen Sophia learned that several of her ministers had fallen victim to the Fire Curse Technique, she quickly realized what they had in common: they had jointly plotted against the Uruk Kingdom, and the Uruk Kingdom had an overwhelmingly powerful curser!
Fear poured over her like a torrential downpour, leaving her trembling from head to toe.
"Impossible! We clearly framed the Silbon Kingdom. Why did they discover that we did it?" The Queen's face was deathly pale, but she had no time to dwell on her confusion. Lifting her expensive skirts, she hurried toward the Elder Council in high heels.
Halfway there, terrifying flames descended upon her. The automatic defenses of her Magic Equipment immediately activated, frightening her so badly that she fell to the ground, her face drained of color.
"Help me up! To the Elder Council!" The Queen's legs had gone weak. Just thinking about how that terrifying mage was cursing her made her unable to muster any strength in them.
Several Maids beside her were so frightened by the flames on the Queen's body that they did not dare move.
"If you don't come help me, your entire families will be buried with you!" the Queen said viciously.
All the Maids shuddered, their faces filled with terror. Enduring the pain of the flames scorching them, they helped the Queen to her feet.
In less than three seconds, the exposed skin of the Maids blistered from the flames. One Maid could not endure it any longer and dropped to her knees, wailing, "Your Majesty, why don't I call the elders here? That would be faster than carrying you there."
At the Maid's reminder, the Queen found it reasonable as well. She had been frightened senseless and had not thought of it. She immediately urged, "Then hurry and call them!"
The other Maids collapsed to the ground one after another, howling in pain. The Maid ignored the pain of her burns and quickly ran toward the Elder Council.
