Jieqiao was located in what was now Xingtai, Hebei. Going south or east, one would reach Yanzhou or Qingzhou after traveling just a few hundred li.
This had indeed reached Yuan Shao's bottom line. If the enemy kept breaking through all the way, the great clans of Jizhou would lose faith in Yuan Shao.
Although the plan to use Gongsun Zan to train the troops looked excellent and had proceeded smoothly, and the development of Bingzhou had never stopped, there had to be a bottom line.
They couldn't train until they trained themselves out of existence!
That was why Yuan Shao's advisors had chosen Jieqiao as the site of the decisive battle.
The reason it was called Jieqiao was because there really was a bridge here.
To the east lay Dalan Marsh, with several waterways flowing through it. At Jieqiao, rivers lay to the south and north, while the terrain was flat and narrow.
With such unique terrain, Gongsun Zan's side saw the flat ground as ideal for displaying the might of cavalry, while the narrow terrain made pursuit easier. Yuan Shao's side, meanwhile, saw the flat ground as allowing them to spread out their forces, while the narrow terrain would effectively limit the White Horse Volunteers' range of movement.
Both sides felt the terrain was favorable, which was why this battle had come to pass.
After all, if the terrain disadvantaged one side while giving the enemy a clear advantage, this decisive battle would never have happened.
It was only good if it was good for everyone!
"Lord, please be careful in this battle!" Tian Kai turned to Gongsun Zan and said solemnly.
"Haha, I know what you mean. Do you really think Yuan Shao's little tricks can fool me? They're advancing step by step while taking the opportunity
