Qian Chaoguang could not help speaking up. "Teacher Zhou."
Zhou Yi raised her eyebrows and put on a stern face.
"You need something?"
"Yes."
Qian Chaoguang nodded seriously and said something startling.
"I don't think I'm suited to be class monitor. My cultivation is too weak to command respect, and I could easily become a joke to the other classes. So I recommend Wang Dong instead."
Whoever wants this damned class monitor position can have it. Just don't come looking for me.
There's a pile of crap to deal with every day. I can't be bothered.
Back in college, I got carried away and became class monitor. There was a damn endless stream of things to do every day, and I got chewed out all the time.
Zhou Yi stared at Qian Chaoguang expressionlessly, a faint trace of anger creeping into her voice.
"You can't command respect? Do you think anyone besides you can be class monitor right now?"
"Huh? There should be someone, right? Classmates, does anyone want to... Uh? Don't back away. Why are you all looking at me like that?"
Just as Qian Chaoguang was preparing to shove this troublesome position onto someone else, he turned around to see over ninety expectant gazes from Freshman Class One—and everyone collectively took a big step back.
That included Huo Yutong, who also hated trouble, and Wang Dong, who was eager to watch him make a fool of himself.
Qian Chaoguang: "..."
You guys are pretty damn united, huh? Just leaving your brother here by himself.
I really don't want to be class monitor!
I only wanted to go against Zhou Yi! What the hell are you all doing?
Under the circumstances, no matter how unwilling Qian Chaoguang was, he could only accept it reluctantly. Otherwise, he would offend both sides.
Zhou Yi said with a gloomy expression, "Dismissed. Everyone, take your Iron Clothes back with you. Tomorrow is a theory class. I suggest you meditate properly and fully absorb what you gained from today's physical training class. The day after tomorrow afternoon is still my class. I hope I won't see a single piece of trash then."
"Yes!"
The students answered in unison. Their faces brimming with joy, they charged straight toward Qian Chaoguang.
"Wait, wait, wait. Come find me later. I'm going to say something to the head teacher."
Qian Chaoguang bolted off, catching up to Zhou Yi as she headed for the office.
"Something else?"
Zhou Yi's voice carried a forced chill.
"I just want to say something to you."
"Speak."
"Fear will not earn you respect. It will only earn you hatred."
Zhou Yi turned around and narrowed her eyes at the smiling Qian Chaoguang, as though trying to discern something from his eyes.
But Qian Chaoguang's face held only a smile and sincerity.
He had Mu En's tacit approval, and Qian Duoduo behind him as backing. He had no fear of Zhou Yi's greatest threat—expulsion.
If Zhou Yi dared to expel him, Qian Duoduo would fight her to the death that very day.
It might even be Fan Yu.
Zhou Yi sneered. "Are you here to threaten me? You think I won't dare expel you just because you acknowledged a teacher in the Soul Tool Department?"
"Of course not. I'm merely fulfilling my duty as class monitor, doing my best to reconcile the divide between teacher and students and secure the corresponding benefits for my classmates."
Qian Chaoguang continued smiling at her. With people backing him, he was not intimidated in the slightest.
"Of course, if you believe I'm threatening you, you can try it. Teacher Fan Yu may be strong, but he isn't the one in charge of the academy."
Zhou Yi was startled, but quickly calmed herself and said coldly, "What does this have to do with him?"
"Nothing. I was just mentioning it. Teacher Zhou, my cultivation may be lacking, but I'm very capable of gathering information. I told you that this morning. As far as I know, you have expelled at least five hundred students over the course of your teaching career."
"Five hundred Shrek students—even without counting the clans and forces behind them—that is still an immensely powerful group. Perhaps... that is why you have never left Shrek City in all these years, aside from hunting Soul Rings?"
Shrek Academy was filled with talent, so Qian Chaoguang had obtained this information with ease.
Among the several thousand people there, someone was bound to resent Zhou Yi. Not everyone had Stockholm syndrome.
Based on what Qian Chaoguang had learned over the past two days, there were quite a few of them.
This was a point well worth exploiting.
Zhou Yi was becoming impatient. "What exactly are you trying to say?"
"Do you truly believe this method of education, which leaves students utterly terrified, is right? Taking off your mask and speaking calmly with your students will not diminish your authority."
Qian Chaoguang spoke seriously.
"You are still afraid, aren't you? You are only a Soul Emperor, not a Titled Douluo. Yet according to the information I've gathered over the past few days, among the many students you expelled, at least a dozen have already become Soul Saints. Soul Emperors and Soul Kings are too numerous to count..."
"Enough!"
Zhou Yi snapped.
"Get back to your dormitory right now! You'd better pray I never find anything to use against you."
"All right. Since you have no intention of accepting my suggestion, then as you wish. Goodbye, Teacher."
Qian Chaoguang replied politely.
Within his Divine Sense, Zhou Yi's retreating figure looked utterly disheveled.
She was panicking.
She was afraid too.
It was true that Zhou Yi had hardly ever left Shrek City. Qian Chaoguang had gone to great lengths to learn this from a Fifth-year senior whom Zhou Yi had once taught.
That person bore intense hatred for Zhou Yi and had secretly collected intelligence and materials for years, waiting for an opportunity to take revenge. Qian Chaoguang had gotten some extremely explosive information from him.
One particular piece had greatly intrigued Qian Chaoguang, and he intended to begin looking into it that very night.
As for those Soul Saints and Soul Emperors he had mentioned afterward?
He had merely bluffed. He had not expected Zhou Yi to be so frightened.
Anyone who could enter Shrek Academy would not find it too difficult to become a Soul King or Soul Emperor after a dozen or so years. Those with better talent might even become Soul Saints.
Right after school began, Qian Chaoguang had checked the timetable. Shrek's curriculum contained absolutely nothing related to character education.
Under such circumstances, it was impossible for none of the expelled students to resent Zhou Yi.
Fear would inevitably breed hatred.
According to that Fifth-year senior, he knew of a former senior from who knew how many generations ago who was about to advance to Soul Saint.
That senior had been extremely patient, staying in Shrek City all this time just to wait for the day Zhou Yi left the city, so he could take revenge when the chance arose.
From their conversation just now, Qian Chaoguang had sensed it clearly.
Zhou Yi was very afraid.
She also knew that her habit of expelling students was nothing more than bluff and bluster.
Even if many of her theories were indeed correct.
Even if she was a teacher who protected her own students—only the "good students."
But wrong was wrong. There was nothing more to say.
Without Fan Yu, one of Shrek's few Rank 8 Soul Engineers, covering for her, Du Wilun would have expelled this bitch a hundred times over.
This kind of behavior—having no real ability yet being absurdly arrogant and deranged—stirred up some extremely unpleasant school memories for Qian Chaoguang. Since Zhou Yi had put it that way, then she could not blame him for dealing with her.
