Power Progression

Stage / Realm / Level Chapter Notes
Super Douluo — historical advancement 651 Rapidly increased his cultivation by adding nine Soul Rings of at least fifty thousand years to his other Martial Soul.
Dual divine inheritance: Sea God and Asura God 537 638 Inherited both divine positions during the First-generation Shrek Seven Devils’ era, becoming a God King and the God Realm’s enforcer. His Sea God position is Rank 1, while Asura is God King rank 666.
Sea God Divine Seat approaching Demigod King 762 A nearly complete eighth halo indicates that the Sea God seat is close to elevation beyond Rank 1. Its weakening prevents that development from being secured.
Sea God Divine Seat downgraded to peak Rank 1 763 815 Douluo Star’s reawakened plane consciousness reclaims the oceans. Tang San loses his exceptional ocean control and Plane Master authority, although his Asura position remains intact.
Dragon God Bloodline fusion 815 841 851 Refines Gold and Silver Dragon King blood into Dragon God Blood. His strength rises despite the Sea God seat’s downgrade, and his improved compatibility allows partial Dual God Power without merging with Xiao Wu.
Sea God–Asura Divine Seat fusion 851 Uses the Dragon God Bloodline and Mysterious Heaven Skill to combine both seats. Ten and then eleven halos stabilize; he also absorbs energy left by Qian Chaoguang’s tribulation. Tang San declares himself a Supreme God King, but the detailed account describes his power as approaching that rank.
Further amplification through Xiao Wu fusion 852 856 Merging with Xiao Wu brings a twelfth Divine Ring close to formation. His pressure approaches the Dragon God’s peak; the subsequent account places him at the peak of the Nineteenth Order.

Background / History

Tang San came from another world and brought the Tang Sect’s ultimate arts and hidden weapons to Douluo Continent. Qian Chaoguang exposes those techniques as stolen rather than personally invented. Claims that an outside soul killed and replaced the original child are presented later as an academic interpretation, not a separately confirmed account of his arrival 662 811.

During his mortal career, Tang San became one of the First-generation Shrek Seven Devils, established the Tang Sect, and led the struggle against Spirit Hall. Shrek’s records celebrate his inheritance of the Sea God and Asura positions and his defeat of the Rakshasa and Angel Gods. Ten thousand years later, the academy and sect still regard him as an exemplary patriarch 29 472 537.

Before ascending, he arranged for Tang Hao to absorb power containing Douluo Continent’s governing authority. He also transplanted the Golden Ancient Tree into Shrek Academy and had Ah Yin seize its body. The soul-merging practice he passed to Flender caused successive Shrek leaders to become nourishment for Ah Yin rather than preserve their souls as they believed 749 761.

In the God Realm, Tang San held both divine positions and served as acting controller through possession of the God Realm Hub’s core key. His position depended on political support as well as force, particularly in his rivalry with the God of Destruction 638 641.

Appearance

  • Sea God form: Sea-blue divine armor and blue-gold halos; the number of halos reflects his divine rank 641 762.
  • Asura form: Red divine armor, blood-colored radiance, and nine God King halos. While refining Asura faith, scarlet pupils and moving blood-colored patterns appear across his face 638.
  • Fused form: Red-and-blue gradient armor and eleven stabilized halos, with a twelfth beginning to form after merging with Xiao Wu 851 852.
  • Public likeness: Shrek’s statue of Thousand Hands Douluo matches the figure shown in Tang Wutong’s preserved memories 749.

Personality

Tang San presents himself as righteous and uninterested in personal glory, but his private decisions prioritize power, control, and status. He covets the Golden Dragon Spear while arguing that only he is fit to contain such an “evil” weapon. He later makes the same claim about the Angel Holy Sword 294 736 853.

His manipulation extends to his family. He tears apart Xiao Qi’s soul to advance his plans, conceals the damage from Xiao Wu, and treats Wang Dong’s developing personality as something that can be removed or overwritten. When confronted, he insists that these actions benefited his daughter and expects approval rather than condemnation 642 643 855.

He is highly sensitive to losses of authority. Failed schemes provoke destructive rage, while setbacks involving his followers, divine seat, and family push him toward increasingly aggressive attempts to gain strength. His confidence persists even when he misunderstands the source of the phenomena surrounding his final breakthrough 294 763 851.

Asura Divine Power and the conflicting powers he incorporates worsen his violence and mental instability. During the final confrontation, his bloodlust becomes so severe that he cannot speak coherently until Qian Chaoguang purifies the negative influence 775 854 856.

Abilities & Skills

Sea God Power

  • Commands ocean-related divine power and uses the inherited Sea God Thirteen Forms 418 762.
  • Unpredictable Wind Waves creates a binding halo capable of immobilizing a peak God King such as the God of Destruction for eight seconds 853.
  • Channels fused red-and-blue power through the Sea God Trident for heavy, ocean-like attacks 853.
  • His authority over Douluo Star’s oceans is curtailed when the Central Mainframe reawakens. In the final battle, rejection by the Law of Light further cripples his Sea God powers 763 853.

Asura Power

  • Wields slaughter-oriented divine power, the Asura Domain, and the Asura Blood Sword 665 854.
  • Draws Asura Power of Faith through the Asura Divine Sword to repair and strengthen himself 330 638.
  • At full output, produces a blood-like field around his body and an intense aura of killing intent 852.
  • Asura faith contains dangerous, impure influences. Its use contributes to bloodlust and personality changes 638 775.

Dual God Power and Dragon God Bloodline

  • Initially relies on Xiao Wu to activate Dual God Power; Dragon God Bloodline fusion later lets him wield part of it independently 643 851.
  • Uses Mysterious Heaven Skill as a binding agent to fuse his two Divine Seats, generating Genesis power during the process 851.
  • Can still merge with Xiao Wu after completing the seat fusion, further increasing his output 852.
  • Dragon God Bloodline continuously repairs his damaged body, blood vessels, and meridians, helping him survive Xiao Wu’s self-destruction 856.
  • Accumulating incompatible powers brings instability rather than a corresponding mastery of laws 854 856.

Divine Sense and Soul Manipulation

  • Leaves Divine Sense marks for surveillance and communication in the lower realm, including on Da Ming and Er Ming 643 774.
  • Splits his daughter’s soul, transfers memory-bearing fragments, and attempts to fuse them with the Three-Eyed Golden Lion 643 749.
  • Plants a controlling device within Wang Dong’s soul 662 855.
  • Electrolux identifies a fundamental flaw in his approach: combining souls creates a composite being, not a restoration of the original person 404.
  • His tracking cannot penetrate Wang Dong’s protection inside the Sealed Box and encrypted Undead Demi-plane 637 643.

Martial Souls and Tang Sect Arts

  • Blue Silver Emperor: Produces vines for restraint; its domain and his transformed Eight Spider Lances are associated with absorbing life force 294 856.
  • Clear Sky Hammer: Retains substantial offensive potential, but receives little development after his ascension 418 853.
  • Mysterious Heaven Skill: Remains central to his cultivation and eventual Divine Seat fusion 851.
  • Ghost Shadow Perplexing Track: Used for movement in his final battle 853.
  • He neglects both Martial Souls for thousands of years, returning to them only when cornered during the final siege 856.

Divine Bestowal and Lower-Realm Safeguards

  • Raises the Sea God Douluo’s configuration to nine hundred-thousand-year Soul Rings, although each still carries only one skill 666.
  • Empowers Zhou Yi through divine trials, replacing her damaged Martial Soul with the Rakshasa Blood Spider and enabling temporary God Official-level strength 739.
  • Supplies God-Bestowed Soul Rings to the Clear Sky Sect and raises Da Ming and Er Ming to Level 101 during its attack 774.
  • Leaves a sect-protection array that Electrolux secretly breaches, samples, and repairs without detection. Electrolux judges its rune construction crude 410.
  • His poison formation around the Ice and Fire Yin Yang Well is formidable enough that Da Ming believes even Di Tian could not force through it without Extreme Ice or Extreme Fire 768.

Equipment / Weapons / Items

  • Sea God Trident / Golden Trident — Inherited from the old Sea God. Explicitly described as a Quasi-Super Divine Artifact earlier, but counted among his two Super Divine Artifacts during the final confrontation 418 639 851 856.
  • Asura Divine Sword — Received through Tang Chen; channels Asura faith and serves as a principal weapon. Xiao Wu’s sabotage causes it to shatter 418 638 854.
  • Sea God and Asura Divine Armor — Separate armor forms that merge into red-and-blue armor during Divine Seat fusion 641 851.
  • Sea God Eight Wings — Golden wings transformed from his Eight Spider Lances 294 853.
  • God Realm Hub core key — An octagonal golden key representing control of the God Realm. Confiscated by committee ruling 638 641.
  • Sea God Helmet — Divine artifact left in the mortal realm to communicate with the Sea God High Priest; later taken by Qian Chaoguang 643 852.
  • Poison Scripture — Guarded by Aromatic Silk Beauty under rules requiring proof of descent from Tang San and completion of a test. Qian Chaoguang obtains it through deception 474 478.

Relationships

  • Xiao Wu — Lover and partner in Dual God Power; described as the Asura Sword’s sheath. Initially unaware of his schemes against their daughter, she later sabotages his attack and self-destructs in an attempt to kill him 642 851 854 855 856.
  • Tang Wutong / Xiao Qi — Biological daughter whose soul and memories he divides to seize the Auspicious Beast’s fortune, bloodline, and weapon 643 749.
  • Wang Dong — New personality formed from Xiao Qi’s surviving body and soul. Tang San implants a controlling device in her; she later turns against him and drives Frostmourne into his skull 749 855 856.
  • Tang Hao — Father and intended agent for seizing Douluo Star’s governing authority. His death becomes another blow to Tang San’s plans 749 761 815.
  • Ah Yin — Mother, the original hundred-thousand-year Blue Silver Emperor. Tang San arranges her seizure of the Golden Ancient Tree; Qian Chaoguang and his teachers eventually kill her 749.
  • Yu Xiaogang — Teacher and partner in the historical narrative exposed as deceptive. Tang San makes no visible effort to rescue him during the final confrontation 662 852.
  • Qian Chaoguang — Principal opponent, who obstructs his soul manipulation, dismantles his mortal influence, defeats him, and ultimately strikes his soul 293 402 852 853 857.
  • Electrolux — Opposing soul specialist who reads the intercepted fragment, identifies Tang San’s mistakes, and plants a countermeasure against further interference 293 404.
  • God of Destruction and Goddess of Life — Rivals within the God Realm Committee; their ruling removes Tang San’s control of the Hub key 638 641.
  • Da Ming and Er Ming — Lower-realm associates marked by his Divine Sense. Their resentment develops into defiance, and Wang Dong and Qiu’er intervene to remove the marks 416 774 775.
  • Sea God Douluo — Loyal High Priest tasked with investigating the disappearance of Tang San’s daughter and reporting continental developments 643 665 666.
  • Zhou Yi — Empowered proxy used to attack Shrek City; defeated by Huo Yutong and Qiu’er 739 740.
  • Mu En — Former inheritor of Shrek’s reverence for Tang San who becomes his enemy after discovering the consumption of past academy leaders’ souls 482 749 813.

Story Role / Major Arcs

Failed Auspicious Beast Scheme

  • Qian Chaoguang blocks Tang Wutong’s Soul Fragment during Huo Yutong’s contact with the Three-Eyed Golden Lion. Electrolux reads memories from the damaged fragment 293.
  • Tang San’s objective is to obtain the Star Dou Great Forest’s accumulated fortune and the Golden Dragon Spear, then elevate his Sea God seat 294.
  • He retries the interference and turns to Asura faith after exhausting much of his accumulated Sea God faith 329 330.
  • Electrolux reveals a hidden countermeasure intended to shatter the fragment during another passage through the planar barriers, forcing at least seven years of recovery 404.
  • Er Ming’s assistance in obtaining God-Bestowed Soul Rings coincides with a further drain on Tang San’s Divine Sense 418.

Loss of Authority and Mortal Influence

  • Ah Yin’s death interrupts his recovery. He attempts to act despite the remaining crack in his divine soul 637 638.
  • The God Realm Committee confiscates the Hub key and ends his tenure as acting controller 641.
  • Unable to locate Wang Dong or Qiu’er, he turns to the Sea God High Priest for information. Reports of Shrek’s rejection, the Tang Sect’s small membership, and the return of an Angel Martial Soul unsettle him 643 665 666.
  • Qian Chaoguang exposes his mutilation of the Tang Sect inheritance and suppression of Soul Tool development. Beibei’s anger leads to a staged plan for undermining Tang San’s reputation rather than an immediate public break 662 663.
  • Zhou Yi’s attack fails, and Douluo Star’s Central Mainframe subsequently reclaims ocean authority, downgrading the Sea God seat 739 740 763.

Public Exposure and Final Confrontation

  • Outside the Sea God Palace, Qian Chaoguang reveals the destruction or defection of Tang San’s mortal support network. Tang San merges with Xiao Wu and attacks 852.
  • Qian Chaoguang overwhelms him. Xiao Wu then detonates Asura Divine Power, shattering his sword, before self-destructing after he defends his treatment of their daughter 853 854 855.
  • Xiao Wu’s self-destruction does not kill him. Tang San survives, is besieged by former allies and enemies, and is struck through the skull by Wang Dong’s Frostmourne 856.
  • In the finale, Qian Chaoguang cuts into his soul with the Peerless Saber. Tang San loses consciousness and later awakens in a room on a cold metal bed 857.
