The Old World, also known as the Plague Focal World (Focus of Infection).
Yi Chen had read an introduction to the Old World in the basic collection section of the Grand Library. This information had not been kept secret; it had been made fully public to the organization.
After so many years of the organization's existence and the sacrifice of countless outstanding gentlemen, this fact had been established through extensive investigation.
Diseases were not spontaneously produced by the world. They had all been contracted, directly or indirectly, from the Old World. It was the source of disease, the gathering place of the roots of every sickness.
On the title page of the book were a sentence left by the organization's founder and an accompanying illustration.
"We did not contract the disease. The disease came to us. (Were we not ill, it'd come to us)"
The illustration was divided into three parts:
1. It depicted a planet representing human life, with Middle-Earth and the five continents clearly marked on it. Everything was completely normal, with no problems at all.
2. Besides our planet, another living planet appeared on the right. Pus flowed from it, ulcers covered it, and tentacles that could float through space grew from it. Yet the entire planet was pierced by a colossal sword.
3. The diseased planet successfully approached by drifting its tentacles closer, clinging to the back of the human planet like a tumor. The tentacles then drilled holes into this world, through which the diseases they carried spread over and gradually assimilated it.
That diseased planet represented the Old World, while the holes represented the passageways.
