Three days later, the vanguard cavalry tore through the morning mist and collided with the Nine Li army across an endless wilderness.
Li Mu reined in his horse and gazed into the distance. Across from them stretched a dense, oppressive mass of soldiers, their blades reflecting the color of blood. Their eyes burned crimson, murderous intent congealing into something tangible and surging like a tide. Such ferocity, such viciousness—even after years of commanding troops, Li Mu felt a sudden chill run down his spine. He glanced back. Behind him, among the one hundred thousand soldiers, quite a few had their hands pressed to their sword hilts, knuckles white and calves trembling. The six Golden Immortals, however, merely knitted their brows and exchanged glances, a trace of strangeness rising in their eyes. This aura... why does it seem so familiar?
Li Mu drew in a quiet breath, forcibly suppressing the storm in his heart. Steadying his voice, he shook the reins and urged his Azure-Eyed Golden-Furred Beast one step forward before calling out, "Are you Chi You, Lord of the Nine Li?"
Before his voice had even faded, two walls of soldiers split apart with a thunderous roar at the center of the enemy formation. A giant strode out between them, his twin horns twisting above his head and his muscles cast like iron. It was Chi You! Feng Bo stood to his left and Rain Master to his right, their robes fluttering and their auras deep and unfathomable.
The six immortals cried out the moment they saw them, "A great shaman of the Witch Clan!" Then realization dawned. No wonder their hearts had trembled moments ago; an aura from the distant past had faintly stirred.
Feng Bo and Rain Master exchanged a smile.
Feng Bo lightly patted Rain Master's shoulder
