The Bear Tribe below looked up at Zhuanxu high in the sky and fell prostrate in unison, their eyes blazing with reverence. The few white-haired elder ministers trembled at the lips, momentarily speechless and dazed—as though they were seeing Yellow Emperor Xuanyuan once more, galloping and roaring, wielding his sword to split the clouds; as though they had returned to their own spirited youth, when they had crossed mountains and ridges; and as though they were silently lamenting how time was like a blade, shaving away their dark hair, yet quietly pouring long-lost passion and sharpness back into their chests. Gazing at Zhuanxu now was just like looking up at Xuanyuan in those days—so awe-inspiring that none dared approach, so towering and indomitable that he seemed to prop up the heavens, so commanding that all living things held their breath.
After the Yi tribe had pledged allegiance, the land under Zhuanxu's rule had become vast and boundless. All birds and beasts obeyed his commands, every mountain, river, and peak belonged to his domain, and wherever the sun rose and the moon fell, all bowed their heads and submitted. He was tranquil by nature and far-sighted in thought, penetrating in his understanding of affairs and perceptive of the hidden and subtle. He was skilled at nurturing all things to enrich the people's livelihoods, following the Four Seasons to uphold Heaven's way; he established rites and morality in accordance with the virtues of spirits and gods, implemented civilization by harmonizing yin and yang, and maintained utmost sincerity in conducting sacrifices. Thus, the common people submitted to him wholeheartedly, and every household revered him as a deity.
Haobai Emperor Xuanxiao's son was named Bi Ji. After reaching adulthood, Bi Ji took Lian'er and Duo to work every day among the fields, lakes, and
