Encountering Two Injured Angels
A few minutes before the star split in two.
Angel Zhui, a high-ranking Angel from the Angel Civilization, was collecting data on the Chiwu Star System.
For life-bearing planets still in the pre-nuclear civilization stage, Angels generally did not intervene unless forces beyond the current civilization emerged. Only then would Angels enter to carry out righteous judgment and maintain the civilization's course.
Angel Zhui had stayed here for roughly a thousand years and was fairly familiar with Earth Star.
Over time, she found the ever-advancing Earth Star rather interesting, somewhat different from other life-bearing planets in the Universe.
Although its civilization was largely steeped in war, there were also many moving and heroic stories.
Angels had a sentimental side. Sometimes, when she saw lives wither away, Angel Zhui would shed tears for them.
She had even wanted to intervene and change some people's fates.
But in the end, reason still prevailed over emotion.
All things in the Universe were born, aged, sickened, and died. This was the natural law of the Universe, and no one could escape it.
Though Angels lived forever, they could still die in battle. They were not truly immortal.
Angel Zhui now only wanted another Angel to come take over her assignment and continue observing the Chiwu Star System.
She wanted to leave this place. She felt that the longer she stayed, the more deeply she would be influenced, making it harder to reach the best judgments. She might even impulsively do things that violated the Justice Order.
"Thankfully, someone will probably replace me in about three years," Angel Zhui muttered to herself.
Just then, a doorway-like device behind her flickered with light, and a figure stepped out of it.
This doorway was similar to a Space Anchor, essentially a teleportation array. Nearby Angels could use Wormhole Algorithms for ultra-long-distance teleportation.
The Chiwu Star System was relatively remote, so there were only a few such anchors.
The newcomer was a female Angel wearing Silver Armor and a Red Skirt. She had a flawless figure, fair and immaculate skin, and a face that was innocent yet alluring. The slight upward curve of her lips added even more Charm.
Seeing who had arrived, Angel Zhui could not hide her excitement.
This was her senior and idol—the Sacred Left Wing of the Angel Civilization, the Thunder War God, Angel Yan. A warrior who had lived for around eight thousand years, she had taken part in the holy war between Angels and demons and slain countless enemies.
"Sister Yan, why are you here? Are you taking over my observation of Chiwu Star System?" Angel Zhui flew forward and asked excitedly.
"What are you thinking, Azhui? I'm the Sacred Left Wing. I have plenty to do. Why would I come here to be a planetary observer?" Angel Yan said.
"That's what I thought. But Sister Yan, why did you come here?" Angel Zhui asked with a smile.
"The Demon Queen Morgana has awakened. According to data projected by Queen Keisha's Knowledge Vault, Morgana most likely came to Earth Star here.
By the way, you've been here for a thousand years. Has Earth Star changed?" Angel Yan asked.
Upon hearing this, Angel Zhui immediately said, "It's changed a great deal. For the past several thousand years, this place remained in the age of cold weapons, but over the last hundred or so years, its technology has exploded, and it has entered the pre-nuclear civilization stage."
"A pre-nuclear civilization! Not bad. But for a cold-weapon civilization to reach the pre-nuclear stage in just over a hundred years, that would be impossible without divine help," Angel Yan said.
It was not that she looked down on humans. Earth Star simply did not yet possess the conditions for a technological explosion.
Entering the pre-nuclear stage in a century—who would believe there was nothing fishy going on?
"Sister Yan, you guessed right. Deno Descendants came to Earth Star, and Deno genes have appeared in human bodies. They seem to have formed an organization called the Super God Academy. The students there all possess Super Genes," Angel Zhui said.
"The Super God Academy... Angels once founded a Super God Academy too. But its principal, Kilan, promoted certain concepts of the Void and Ultimate Fear that transcended the era, so Queen Keisha banned the academy.
Later, Kilan went to the Deno Star System. In a sense, Deno inherited the Core Flame of the God River Civilization," Angel Yan said.
"Should we intervene, Sister Yan?" Angel Zhui asked.
"Not for now. Earth Star is using genetic resources that do not belong to its era, so it has long been watched by civilizations in the Universe with malicious ambitions. On my way here, I discovered a wormhole bridge outside the Chiwu Star System, where a large number of Taotie Civilization ships had gathered," Angel Yan said.
"By the way, Azhui. Have you detected any traces of demons?"
Yan continued questioning her. She had come here to investigate Morgana's whereabouts.
As for the Taotie, she did not take them seriously.
"No, Sister Yan. I haven't detected even the slightest trace of demons," Angel Zhui said.
"That figures. A god at Morgana's level is difficult for us to detect unless it's Queen Keisha..."
Before Angel Yan could finish, a profound terror washed over her, and an unknown threat descended without warning.
In the distance beyond this uninhabited star, a streak of sword qi that seemed capable of tearing apart the Universe cleaved toward them.
Everything in its path was reduced to ruin, cut apart without exception.
"Azhui, move!" Yan shouted.
They wanted to use wormhole technology to teleport, but before the sword qi even arrived, it distorted the Void first, making it extremely difficult for them to open a wormhole.
Thus, Angel Yan and Angel Zhui could only use their Angel Wings to fly at top speed! Where the sword qi struck, the star split in two and suddenly cracked apart in the Universe. Its lingering shockwave carved on for dozens of light-years.
A Taotie metal spacecraft that had just emerged near the Great Chong Bridge turned into fireworks in an instant, lighting up the Universe.
"What kind of power was that?!"
A trace of terror appeared in Angel Yan's eyes. Her heart still pounded with fear. This was undoubtedly the greatest crisis she had encountered in thousands of years.
On the other side, Angel Zhui dropped to one knee, her breathing in disarray, before falling backward.
"Azhui."
Angel Yan flew over and caught Azhui, her face filled with concern.
She found no wounds on Azhui's body, yet her aura was extremely weak, and her physical readings were dropping.
"Sister Yan, it's fine. I was just shaken by that Energy Sword Qi from who knows where," Azhui said with a smile.
"How is that fine, Azhui? Your condition is terrible. Why isn't your Self-Healing gene working?" Yan asked.
Since Azhui had no injuries, Yan could not treat her even by injecting energy into her.
After all, Angels' injuries were generally repaired at the genetic level.
But there was no damage at all to Azhui's genetic level.
"I don't know either, Sister Yan. It just feels like some mysterious force is running wild inside my body. I can't see it or touch it," Angel Zhui said.
"..." Yan.
"Sister Yan, how about you stab me? Then I can revive using my Undying Body," Angel Zhui said, her eyes impossibly clear.
"What nonsense are you talking about? How could I possibly stab you?" Angel Yan said.
The Undying Body was a feature available only to a small number of outstanding third-generation high-ranking Angels. This program allowed an Angel who had already physically died to revive once more, albeit in a severely weakened state.
One step above that was the Third Generation Divine Body. As long as energy existed, one could not die, breaking free from the life-and-death restraints of God River lifeforms.
"Ahem, do you need help?"
Just as Angel Yan was at a loss, a young man who looked like a decent fellow appeared behind them at some unknown point.
