Crazy Improvement V

Lu Sheng spent five minutes writing a leave request to the London Police Station. As for whether they approved it, that was none of his concern. Between Miskatonic University and his police post, the university was naturally more important.

After sorting out the letter, he placed it in an envelope already in the room, sealed it with glue, then went outside and slipped it into the mailbox by the door.

Then, after packing up a few things, he headed to the library to read.

During the day, the somewhat hunched old man was nowhere to be seen in the library. Instead, a plump auntie was loudly barking orders.

"No borrowing allowed! You may only come in and read for one hour. Anyone who doesn't come out will have their credits deducted! Don't think Aunt Hanna is joking—those are the rules! The school's rules! If anyone dares disobey, the credit book doesn't care about your status or background!"

To the right of the library entrance, before the guard booth, Aunt Hanna—whose belly was even larger than that of a heavily pregnant woman—roared in a thick voice as she reminded the students coming and going.

The library had not fully opened yet. Aunt Hanna was carefully turning the keys to unlock each lock on the doors. As she opened them, she kept muttering under her breath, though no one knew what she was saying.

More than a dozen young students who had arrived at the crack of dawn were already waiting outside.

"I'm telling you, every one of you comes running here so early, yet you're never this enthusiastic in class. How many times have I told you? That thing isn't here! It isn't here, so why does no one believe me?"

Lu Sheng stood outside the crowd at the very back.
