Achilles glanced at the two strangers behind Selena. Selena hurriedly introduced them, "They're my friends."
Achilles lingered on Hobart for a second or two before withdrawing his gaze. "I need her hair, blood, fingernails, or something she uses often."
Selena had come prepared and produced a hair ornament. "Elizabeth gave this to me last week. She wore it for a while before that, and I haven't had the chance to wear it yet."
Achilles nodded, took out a crystal ball, and pressed the hair ornament beneath it.
Then he began chanting incantations with great ceremony, as though he had entered some sort of frenzied state.
Selena, and even Melissa, were thoroughly taken in. Only Hobart watched coldly from the side. He knew that divination did not require any messy incantations, and he had also guessed that Achilles was likely a Beyonder of the Secret Supplicant pathway.
The abundant spirituality of Secret Supplicants was enough to let them use certain tools for things like divination.
However, Achilles was probably Sequence 7 or Sequence 8, so all of a Secret Supplicant's abilities should have been enhanced.
After a round of theatrics, Achilles took a deep breath and recovered from his frenzied state. With one hand touching the crystal ball, he said, "Your friend is in an abandoned villa in the east outskirts.
"Go quickly! The villain is preparing to leave. If you arrive too late, you won't be able to find them."
"Thank you, Mr. Achilles," Selena said. She stood up and prepared to head out.
But Hobart asked, "How much is the divination fee?"
Achilles glanced at Hobart. "Selena's divination is free."
Selena smiled with some pride.
"No," Hobart said. "I believe every gift of Fate has its price marked on it."
He added, "Besides, it is a sign of respect
