Having gone through something similar once before, Grove was not as terrified as last time. He glanced at his companion as if to say, Do you believe me now?
Grove's companion was utterly dumbfounded, watching helplessly as the small locomotive "floated" into the air before finally vanishing.
More than ten seconds later, his companion finally reacted. "Quick, quick, go get someone..."
The locomotive had really been stolen! Grove had not expected this either. How had it disappeared this time? Last time, it had only "floated" in midair for a while before dropping back down.
The two hurried back to get help and soon brought over seven or eight guards.
But everyone discovered that the small locomotive was sitting there perfectly fine. When had it floated into the air? When had it vanished?
Just as the other guards were about to blame Grove and his companion, one of them noticed, "Why is the locomotive off the tracks?"
Everyone took a closer look. Sure enough, the locomotive that had originally been parked on the rails had shifted sideways a short distance, its wheels no longer on the tracks.
If it had moved forward or backward, Grove and his companion might have pushed it. But moving sideways was another matter entirely! No matter how strong the two were, they could not possibly have shifted the locomotive horizontally off the tracks.
The guards exchanged looks. One of them said, "I'll report this to the manager!"
The others came to their senses as well and quickly moved away from the small locomotive. Their backs felt icy, and they walked faster and faster until they simply broke into a run! Thus, the next day, the rumors that the Freight Railway Station was haunted were confirmed, and Machinery Hearts even sent two members over to investigate.
