When Hobart used Weaken, his ambush had already succeeded.
The Guardian was visibly weakened, and the Stone of Loss of Control made him pause noticeably, once again stopping his assault on Hobart.
A Sequence 7 who had rushed over to provide support was affected by the Stone of Loss of Control and Weaken, standing there blankly as he struggled to recover.
Meanwhile, a Sequence 8 who had followed the Guardian over to provide support lost control on the spot. The flesh all over his body began swelling like balloons being inflated.
While underground, Hobart had used the Teleport Stone Statue to probe the enemy's strength. They had one Sequence 5, two Sequence 6s, two Sequence 7s, and three Sequence 8s.
Just as Hobart had expected, although his ambush had caught the enemy off guard, their combat discipline was quite good. They had not all swarmed over to provide support; only the Guardian had come with a Sequence 7 and a Sequence 8.
The remaining enemies were still guarding the entrance.
This gave Hobart the opportunity to divide the battlefield. After withdrawing his blade, he promptly abandoned the Conspirator, flashed before the Sequence 7, and slashed at him.
The Sequence 7 had nothing but shock left in his eyes. He had no time to react at all.
Just as the Sequence 7 resigned himself to death, a bulwark radiating dawn light appeared before him, blocking the fatal strike.
At the same time, Hobart heard a whistling sound behind him. The Conspirator's fireball had already reached his back.
Hobart used Flash for the second time, dodging the fireball. Then he flashed again, appearing before the Sequence 8 guarding the entrance, and killed him with a single slash.
It was not that the Guardian had failed to use Dawn Bulwark in time to
