The Candles in the Tomb Chamber. Hobart went over to take a look as well. It was indeed Lina's corpse. She was leaning against her backpack, her eyes wide open, her face as pale as white wax.
Auston quickly determined Lina's cause of death. "Slashed wrists. Suicide."
The wrist of one of Lina's hands was a mangled mess of flesh and blood. The dagger she had used to cut her own wrist lay on her body, and a pool of blood had gathered beneath her, as though every drop in her body had drained out.
With her other hand, she had used her own blood to write a short phrase on the tent.
The writing was so messy that Hobart had to stare at it for quite a while before making it out. Lina had written: Curse in the Dream.
Hobart exchanged a glance with Auston. Neither understood what it meant. If it was simply a curse, Hobart's first thought was the Grave Owner's curse, but what did that have to do with dreams? Could the Grave Owner's curse exist within dreams? Or was this some sort of warning Lina had left for her teammates? Since Lina had committed suicide, could it have been because of the Monster in the Painting again?
No matter what, Lina's suicide kept Hobart on guard. The Grave Owner's curse might not have been entirely meant to frighten people.
Auston lifted Lina's corpse, found the shovel and spade, then left the tent.
Hobart carefully examined Lina's body, then infused spirituality into the Spirituality Connection Wine Cup and attempted Spirit Communication.
However, Lina had evidently been dead for over an hour. Her spirituality was already extremely faint, making Spirit Communication impossible.
Hobart rose and hurried toward the Sequence 8 whom Pete had killed just now.
