Lafite replied, "...Great 'Creator,' I can provide the relevant information. Backlund was indeed under martial law for two days a few days ago.
"But soon afterward, as media outlets in the Feneport Kingdom reported that Christine and his son had arrived within Feneport's borders, the martial law was lifted as well. Backlund is now as it has always been."
Hobart, seated upon the "Iron Throne," withdrew his spirituality. It was more or less as he had guessed. Especially now that Christine and he had both been granted titles, Backlund would show some anger, but it certainly would no longer be on guard.
It was a case of darkness beneath the lamp. After all, no one would have expected Hobart to return to Backlund at a time like this.
Of course, Hobart would not return wearing his own face. That would only raise the bounty on him.
He brought the mask made from the "Mutated Fire Rose Spider" and the "Order Crystal" from the "Country of Disorder" into the real world, then changed his appearance into that of a weathered middle-aged man.
He then used the ability of the "Faceless Man Necklace," employing a paper figurine and illusion to disguise himself as still lying in bed.
Rather than heading directly to Rose Street, Hobart first used "travel" to reach a corner of a commercial street. At a tailor's shop, he bought a set of Loen-style clothing.
His previous double-breasted coat had obvious Feneport-style features, so he pretended to be a Feneportian with somewhat stiff Loen Language while shopping, drawing no attention from the clerk.
Only after changing into Loen-style clothing did he become less conspicuous while walking down the street.
Hobart then went to a dark corner on the street and used "travel" to arrive at one end of Rose Street.
