In the cornfield, a creature that was black all over, resembling both a rat and a rabbit, was gnawing at the corn stalks.
Perhaps it was too focused on chewing. It failed to notice a stalk of corn behind it quietly lowering itself toward it.
Just as the creature was about to bite through the corn stalk, it suddenly raised its head and finally realized there was danger! But it noticed too late. The lowered corn stalk suddenly opened a Corn Fruit as large as two adult palms. Its red silk resembled the sucking tubes of a blood-feeding creature, its enclosing leaves like thin flesh membranes. Once it opened, there were no kernels inside—only a monstrous mouth full of serrated teeth.
The "Corn Fruit" abruptly lowered itself and swallowed the rat-like creature in one bite.
The creature struggled violently inside the "Corn Fruit," but soon went completely still.
Hobart realized that these were not corn at all, but monsters that had grown into the shape of corn!
What puzzled Hobart was that after those corn stalks "saw" him, they seemed to have seen some kind of monster. They toppled over one after another, trying their best to avoid him! Hobart took a few steps forward, and the corn ahead of him moved aside as well.
He smiled. "So shy?"
After confirming that the corn was not aggressive, Hobart rapidly advanced by "Distorting" the distance. Yet the cornfield seemed endless. Even after Distorting several times, he still could not leave it.
As he moved forward, he injected Spirituality into the "Order Crystal," searching for the Black Hound Spirit Beast's traces! In theory, the Black Hound Spirit Beast should have been drawn over by the "Order Crystal" as soon as he entered Mist Town. Why had that fellow still not appeared? But
