A Family Bound by Fate
Hobart continued crafting his Honorific Name. The second line generally described one's own authority. Since he controlled the Country of Disorder, he felt he could describe the authorities of the Black Emperor and Judgement.
Hobart stroked the armrest of the Iron Throne, a good idea forming in his mind: You are the origin and end of all order! "Origin" referred to Judgement, which established order, while "end" referred to the Black Emperor, which destroyed it.
There was also the third line. Hobart looked at the Clock Tower in the "sky," which reminded him of Backlund's famous Clock of Order.
Though he did not know whether there was truly a clock inside, his spirituality told him that it was probably something very important within the Country of Disorder.
Got it!
"You are the Master of Laws who wields the Clock of Order!"
Though Hobart still did not know what the inside of the Clock Tower looked like, as his strength grew, he would sooner or later be able to enter and take a look.
The three-part Honorific Name, put together, was: O Creator in the Shadow of Order;
You are the origin and end of all order; you are the Master of Laws who wields the Clock of Order.
Next came his routine observation of the two glowing stars. Over the past few days, Hobart had discovered that the Middle-aged Man in the first star lived in Backlund, while the Young Man in the second star seemed to live on the Southern Continent, though he did not yet know exactly where.
The Middle-aged Man in the first star was still living amid extravagance and indulgence. Hobart was lucky today; from a bill the man signed, he learned that his name was Lafite Pound.
After withdrawing his perspective from the star, Hobart found the name strangely familiar, though he could not recall where he had seen it.
But now that he knew the man's name, he could ask around in Backlund when he had the chance.
Then he observed the second star, only to see the Young Man pacing around his room with a pained expression. It was as though countless venomous snakes were burrowing through his face and the exposed skin of his hands. His condition looked terrifying.
This... this was a sign of Loss of Control!
Hobart had thought something was off about him yesterday. He had not expected the man to be on the verge of losing control!
Sitting on the Iron Throne, Hobart pinched his chin and thought for a moment. Though the first time he had seen this Young Man, he had been killing someone, Hobart's observations over the past few days had shown that the fellow was not a homicidal maniac or a vile, ruthless person. He could try saving him.
After thinking for a second or two, he decided to try using the Power of Order to stabilize the man's condition.
Thus, Hobart used the Iron Throne to mobilize the Power of Order and sent it into the second star.
Southern Continent, West Byerlang, upper reaches of the Hordis River.
Mad roars lingered by Elliot's ears. The blood inside his body churned, and he felt like a balloon inflated to its limit, about to burst. His sanity was gradually slipping away.
Elliot did not know how much longer he could hold on. He was already somewhat despairing. The mad roars had tormented him for many years. Perhaps it was time to give up.
Just as Elliot was about to warn his Companion, to prevent himself from turning into a monster and causing needless casualties in the village, a towering, majestic throne appeared above his head.
The throne was forged from Iron Swords and looked powerful and imposing. A blurry black figure sat amid Sharp Swords like thorns. He looked down upon everything like a god, radiating an indescribable solemnity and majesty.
Then Elliot felt the sense of Loss of Control vanish from his body in an instant. Every inch of his skin and every drop of his blood seemed to become more orderly than ever before.
After standing there blankly for several seconds, Elliot finally reacted. He hurriedly bowed. "Thank you, mysterious and great existence, for restoring order to my body. May I ask what sacrifice I must offer to repay you?"
He did not dare raise his head. He could only feel the other party's overwhelming pressure and wonder which mysterious existence he was.
If he could send the other party away through a sacrifice, that would be best. He only feared that the other party had some other purpose that would make his life worse than death.
Elliot heard a majestic, solemn voice say, "I have not watched over the mortal world for a long time. Tell me about the things around you and the cause of your Loss of Control. That will be your sacrifice."
Had this existence not watched over the mortal world for a long time? Was he some powerful being from the Spirit World? Or an expert who had fallen into slumber long ago? As Elliot speculated, he respectfully said, "As you command. I am in General Anthony's territory in West Byerlang, south of Star Plateau and west of the Pamici Mountain Range.
"The reason I lost control is the Curse upon my family. When every member of my family reaches the age of twelve, a mad roar begins to sound in our ears.
"This roar stimulates our bloodline and turns us into half a Sequence 9 of the Lawyer pathway..."
The solemn voice interrupted him. "Only by drinking the Lawyer Potion can you alleviate the symptoms caused by the roar, correct?"
Elliot froze for a moment, then said excitedly, "You... you know about this Curse?"
Hobart thought from atop the Iron Throne, Of course I know! Why do you think I know? Because this mysterious and great being also bears this Curse! Could they be members of the Heller Family? Hobart calmly asked, "What is the name of your family?"
"The Balk Family!" Elliot hurriedly said. "Mysterious and great existence, do you have a way to lift the Curse upon us? We will sacrifice everything you desire."
Not the Heller Family? Had they changed their name and concealed their identity?
Heh, if I had a way to lift the Curse, I would have used it on myself first.
Hobart continued, "I am not interested in the sacrifices of mortals!"
He thought, The same kind of posturing as Klein! Elliot hurriedly said, "Our family also has demigod experts. If you can lift the Curse upon our family, we will serve you faithfully for generation after generation!"
This was actually a "demigod family"! With such a Curse in the family, yet still producing demigod experts, that was truly remarkable.
Hobart suddenly remembered that Christine and his Biological Father had once fought in West Byerlang, so he asked, "Have you heard of someone named Rex Heller?"
Elliot lowered his head even further. "All-knowing mysterious existence, Rex was the benefactor of our people. The Heller Family, like us, also suffered from the same Curse.
"The difference was that Rex was an unprecedentedly powerful expert. He had the greatest chance of ending this Curse, but it was said that he failed as well.
"However, before his death, Mr. Rex generously taught us much knowledge on resisting the Curse. For example, he told us three methods for easing the Curse's effects, and our experiments proved that all of them were highly practical.
"He also told us how to use Extraordinary Characteristics to fight the Curse. That was how our family came to have demigod experts!"
