Arcs of electricity leaped, whitening the water's surface, while a faint rubbery stench drifted through the air.
"It stinks! Big Brother, Big Brother, there's no movement outside now. Is it over?"
"I don't know. Why don't you go outside and take a look?"
"No way! What if it isn't over and I get struck to death? You're Big Brother, you go."
"Scaredy-cat. We're going together!"
The Jiang Huai Great Marsh surged and heaved. Vast swells of water bulged and deflated, as though giant beasts were swimming beneath; the bubbles they exhaled burst beneath the crests of waves. Da Pang, Er Pang, Da Bao, Er Bao... the big frogs parted the waves with the algae atop their heads, paddled with their webbed feet, and poked their heads out one after another, shaking off water droplets and green algae.
Frog eyes rolled.
More than a hundred water pillars that reached the heavens supported sky and earth. Above them were thunderclouds alive with flickering electric arcs; below them, a river raging with towering waves. Their unique arrangement formed a kind of violent beauty the frogs could not comprehend.
What amazed the frogs most was this.
Lightning Dragons often roared within the tribulation clouds, spiraling down along the water pillars before becoming trapped within the narrow columns, unable to struggle free head or tail, like caged beasts inside glazed bottles. On closer count, nine of the hundred pillars constantly shone with a fluorescent blue light, like nine lamp posts.
The lightning tribulation that had terrified the frogs earlier suddenly fell silent.
The Martial Saints and Demon Kings had vanished as well.
"Where's Great King?" Da Pang looked around frantically, covering his nostrils. "Where did Great King go?"
"Your Great King is inside that pillar." Long E Ying pointed at one of the nine pillars.
