Ch. 242Mega! Mega Gengar!

Jing He and Gengar performed a dramatic Mega Evolution at Professor Sycamore’s research institute, revealing immense power but leaving both of them exhausted. After the battle, Jing He spent time with the other Pokémon and learned that Professor Sycamore had begun asking Sophie about the Coffee Shop employees.

  • Jing He and Gengar Mega Evolved, astonishing Professor Sycamore, Coco Burr, Alain, and Sophie with the transformation and its powerful aura.
  • Professor Sycamore ordered Garchomp to use Dragon Rush, and Jing He calmly directed Mega Gengar to fire a Shadow Ball that devastated the Battle Room without hitting Garchomp.
  • Jing He ended the Mega Evolution, and he and Gengar recovered while Gengar insisted it was not tired and the other Pokémon were inspired to train.
  • Jing He considered how to carry his Key Stone and spent time exploring the institute with Florges, Bunnelby, Helioptile, and Phantump.
  • Professor Sycamore apologized for leaving Jing He alone and told him that Sophie had begun asking about the Coffee Shop employees, though the inquiry would take time.

Ch. 243The Coffee Estate

Jing He brought Gengar to the Lumiose City Pokémon Center for a checkup, then met Professor Sycamore to visit the Coffee Estate, a historic Breeding House for Pokémon in need. The estate’s Indeedee greeted them at the entrance.

  • Nurse Joy examined Gengar and found it exceptionally well trained but weakened, advising it to rest for a day.
  • Jing He woke the next morning to find Gengar had stayed in, then got ready with his Pokémon and admired the pale gold monocle Tinkaton had made for him.
  • Jing He met Professor Sycamore after breakfast, and Professor Sycamore praised his refined outfit.
  • Professor Sycamore explained that the Coffee Estate sheltered Pokémon and trained them in practical skills for work at cafés.
  • Jing He and Professor Sycamore arrived at the estate, where an Indeedee was waiting to greet them.

Ch. 244Recruiting Employees

Jing He visited Coffee Mr. and Coffee Mrs. to recruit the Indeedee siblings for his Coffee Shop, and both agreed to join him. The siblings stayed at the manor until Jing returned from Snowbelle City, while the sister showed off her considerable Psychic power.

  • Indeedee led Jing He and Professor Sycamore through the manor, where Coffee Mr. and Coffee Mrs. welcomed them and served coffee and cakes prepared by the Indeedee siblings.
  • Coffee Mrs. explained that the siblings had been rescued from a Thievul and its Nickit, and Coffee Mr. said they could not be captured because they had likely escaped from poachers.
  • Jing He checked the siblings' abilities, gave them Energy Cubes, and asked them to help at his Coffee Shop; both agreed, and he also considered having them assist with Pokémon psychological treatment.
  • Jing He and Professor Sycamore left the siblings at the manor for a few days while Jing planned to visit Snowbelle City before returning to the Hoenn Region.
  • After Jing left, the Indeedee sister eagerly demonstrated her power by floating yard debris into garbage bags, while her brother shrank back.

Ch. 245Become an Insider Master?

Jing He traveled to Snowbelle City with Professor Sycamore and Alain for the Ice Sculpture Competition, where Vulpix would compete against several promising contestants. After arriving, Jing He reunited with Lorelei and saw that her Jynx had adjusted well to evolving.

  • Jing He, Professor Sycamore, and Alain drove to Snowbelle City, with Gengar unexpectedly taking the wheel for part of the journey.
  • Alain showed Jing He the competition roster, which included Lorelei, Candice, Nessa, and Grusha among the likely contenders.
  • Jing He and his companions arrived in Snowbelle City and went to register for the evening competition.
  • Lorelei greeted Jing He at the venue, and her evolved Jynx eagerly approached Vulpix.
  • Lorelei thanked Jing He for advising her to research Galarian Jynx, which had helped Jynx accept its evolution.
  • An unfamiliar speaker addressed Jing as Teacher Jing He.

Ch. 246Ice Sculpture Competition!

Jing He helped Nessa think through whether she could pursue both modeling and being a Gym Leader, then entered the Ice Sculpture Competition with Vulpix. As their sculpture took shape, glittering snow began falling over the arena.

  • Lysandre greeted Jing He and the others, then invited them to coffee after the competition.
  • Nessa told Jing He that she was troubled by a recent loss to Milo and Chairman Rose's demand that she choose between modeling and being a Gym Leader.
  • Jing He asked Nessa whether she could accept giving up either pursuit, helping her realize she wanted to keep both, and encouraged her to speak with her Pokémon.
  • Nessa asked Jing He to battle her after the competition before entering the arena, and Jing He joined the contest with Vulpix.
  • Jing He and Vulpix sculpted an ice tableau of themselves and their Pokémon, and glittering snowflakes began drifting over the arena.

Ch. 247Articuno!

Jing He and Vulpix won the Ice Sculpture Competition after Articuno left them a feather, and Jing reassured Vulpix that their sculpture had earned the judges’ approval on its own merits. Later, Jing He met Lysandre for coffee and began building trust while considering how to steer him away from his extreme ideals.

  • Articuno returned to the competition grounds, gave Jing He and Vulpix a snow-white feather, and then flew away.
  • The judges unanimously awarded Jing He and Vulpix first place, with Lorelei and Grusha taking second and third; Vulpix gained confidence, and Nessa postponed her challenge after failing to find Jing He.
  • Lysandre invited Jing He to coffee and asked how he viewed the world and whether he would help create a better one.
  • Jing He agreed to keep talking with Lysandre, exchanged contact information, and received a Dark Pulse Technical Machine as a gift.
  • After leaving the coffee shop, Jing He considered asking Sakaki Boss to advise Lysandre.

Ch. 248A Snowy Night Brawl and the First Sighting of the Cocoon of Destruction

Jing He and his Pokémon rescued a group of Abomasnow from poachers in the snowy woods near Snowbelle City. After learning the poachers worked for Argus Steel, Jing He left the investigation to Looker and Officer Jenny, while a mysterious presence watched him depart.

  • Gengar woke Jing He in the middle of the night and led him to a valley where poachers had captured a young Snover to control a group of Abomasnow.
  • Jing He coordinated Gengar, Tinkaton, Dragonair, Vulpix, and Kubfu to overpower the poachers and free Snover and the Abomasnow.
  • The Abomasnow thanked Jing He with Berries and Ice Crystals before leaving to find a safer home.
  • Officer Jenny arrived with Looker, who identified the captured poachers as subordinates of the airship thief Argus Steel.
  • Jing He left the scene to return to sleep, unaware that a small pale-green presence had watched him and regarded him with puzzlement and approval.

Ch. 249Reopening the Shop and the Radishes Sprouting

Jing He reopened A Touch of Sunlight Coffee Shop with the Indeedee siblings, whose work and treats quickly won over customers. He then checked the first sprouts of the Black Radish and Ice Radish, wondering what might help them grow faster.

  • Jing He returned to Canalave City with the Indeedee siblings and arranged to buy coffee beans from the Coffee Estate couple.
  • The Indeedee siblings woke early, cleaned the house and Coffee Shop, and put on their new work uniforms.
  • Jing He reopened A Touch of Sunlight Coffee Shop, where customers praised the Indeedee siblings’ coffee and pastries.
  • Jing He checked the garden and found a Black Radish sprout, while Vulpix spotted a bump beneath the snow where the Ice Radish was growing.
  • Jing He noted the radishes were growing more slowly than expected and wondered whether they needed Cauliflower Head’s blessing.

Ch. 250Dream Eater's Insomniac Dream

Jing He went with Steven to help the Parks family investigate their sleepless Munna, whose insomnia had made it volatile. When Jing He opened the door to Munna’s room, he saw its black smoke forming a strangely familiar shape, and Gengar taunted the Pokémon as the smoke surged.

  • Jing He learned from Steven that the Parks family’s Munna had stopped sleeping and agreed to examine it.
  • Steven told Jing He about the Parks family and their connection to the Stone Family as they drove to the family’s secluded home.
  • Jing He met Mr. Bend and Mrs. Shannon, then followed Mr. Bend upstairs to Munna’s room.
  • Jing He opened the door and saw Munna floating amid shifting black smoke that formed an outline he recognized.
  • Gengar grinned at the bloodshot-eyed Munna and challenged it to experience fear as the smoke surged.

Ch. 251God of Nightmares!

Jing He discovered that Munna’s insomnia came from a nightmare of Darkrai and used Gengar and Vulpix to help it sleep safely. After Munna recovered, Mr. Bend began explaining how it had first gone out, while Darkrai woke from a nightmare about Giratina.

  • Jing He restrained Munna with Gengar and Vulpix, then recognized from its Pokédex information that a terrible nightmare had made it afraid to sleep.
  • Jing He let Munna’s Hypnosis draw him into a dream, where he saw Darkrai before the dream shattered.
  • Jing He had Gengar defeat Munna’s nightmare and Vulpix give it a pleasant dream, allowing Munna to fall asleep peacefully.
  • Mr. Bend praised Jing He and explained that Munna had floated out through a window while he and Haxorus were chopping wood, as it often went out to collect dreams.
  • Darkrai woke on Newmoon Island after dreaming about Giratina.

Ch. 252The Ice Stone That Cost Everything

After receiving a generous payment for treating Munna, Jing He spent nearly all his savings on a top-quality Ice Stone for Vulpix, which still chose not to evolve. He then headed to Kanto Region to review the finished footage of his series and handle its business arrangements, while preparing to challenge Cerulean Gym.

  • Jing He received 500,000 League Credit for treating Munna and asked Steven Stone to buy him a top-quality Ice Stone for four million.
  • Jing He showed Vulpix the Ice Stone, but Vulpix declined to evolve; Gengar found two Dark Stones in the box and eagerly ate them.
  • After seven days, Mato called Jing He to say filming had finished and asked him to review the edited footage and make decisions about sponsorships, advertising, and broadcasting.
  • Jing He agreed to travel to Kanto Region, and his Pokémon gathered in excitement at the prospect of challenging Cerulean Gym.
  • Jing He flew to Saffron City and continued by car toward Cerulean City, unaware that the Rainbow Wing in his pocket had become active.

Ch. 253The Incarnation of the North Wind

Jing He found the Cerulean Gym closed and set out by boat for a film crew, but Gengar’s attempt to speed up the boat caused an engine fire that stranded them. After spotting Suicune on the shore and showing it the Rainbow Wing, Jing He watched as the Legendary Pokémon guided their boat downstream.

  • Nurse Joy told Jing He that the Cerulean Gym was closed for the day and that Trainers were flocking to catch a rumored powerful Pokémon outside the city.
  • Gengar revealed that it had sent the Cerulean Gym a challenge letter, then took the helm when Jing He rented a boat to travel toward the film crew.
  • Gengar used Thunder Punch to boost the boat’s motor after a Magikarp overtook them, but the boat’s rear deck caught fire and left them stranded.
  • Jing He asked Tinkaton to repair the boat, and Dragonair spotted a house along the shore where they might find replacement metal parts.
  • Jing He recognized Suicune on the riverbank and showed it the Rainbow Wing, which Suicune acknowledged after Jing He infused it with Aura.
  • Suicune ran along the bank as the north wind carried Jing He’s boat downstream, leading Jing He to suspect that it was guiding them somewhere.

Ch. 254Suicune's Guidance, the Abandoned Power Plant

Suicune guided Jing He and his Pokémon to the Abandoned Power Plant, where they found Magnemite drained of electricity and reunited with Professor Sakuragi, Kikuna, and Renji. As the researchers investigated powerful electrical currents, golden lightning struck the plant, leaving Jing He wondering whether Raikou would appear.

  • Suicune led Jing He and his Pokémon to a weak Magnemite, which Gengar helped recharge with electricity.
  • Jing He and the others carried Magnemite up the slope and found more drained Magnemite at the Abandoned Power Plant.
  • Gengar startled Renji, and Jing He recognized the other researchers as Professor Sakuragi and Kikuna from the Sakuragi Institute.
  • Sakuragi and his assistants explained that they were investigating unstable electricity and suspected someone was stealing power to capture Electric-type Pokémon.
  • Renji detected powerful electrical currents, and golden lightning crashed down over the Abandoned Power Plant.

Ch. 255Freeze Everything, Nine-Tails!

Zapdos attacked Jing He and the others while in a furious, weakened state, and Jing He led his Pokémon into battle. As Zapdos overwhelmed their counterattack, Vulpix resolved to grow strong enough to protect Jing He and evolved into Ninetales.

  • Zapdos burst from the abandoned power plant and attacked Jing He and the others, while its electricity drained nearby Electric-type Pokémon.
  • Jing He learned that Zapdos had fallen into a trap and was in extremely poor condition, then ordered Gengar, Vulpix, Tinkaton, Dragonair, and Kubfu to fight it.
  • Zapdos drew more electricity into the storm clouds, forcing Dragonair and Tinkaton back and disrupting Vulpix's attempt to change the weather.
  • Vulpix summoned its resolve to protect Jing He, and Jing He gave it an Ice Stone.
  • Vulpix evolved into Ninetales amid a spreading snowfall, and Jing He welcomed its new form.

Ch. 256Jing He vs. Zapdos!

Jing He and his Pokémon subdued the enraged Zapdos, then calmed it with Aura, the Rainbow Wing, and Suicune’s north wind. After discovering that Pokémon Hunters had trapped weakened Electric-type Pokémon in the Abandoned Power Plant and drained Zapdos’s electricity to exploit it, Jing He prepared to help Zapdos retaliate.

  • Ice Vulpix evolved into Ice Ninetales and used Snow Warning to bring on snowy weather.
  • Jing He’s Pokémon battered Zapdos with Blizzard, Shadow Ball, Ice Beam, hammer strikes, and Ice Punch, then Ice Ninetales encased it in ice.
  • Jing He stopped his Pokémon from attacking further and used Aura and the Rainbow Wing to calm Zapdos as Suicune’s north wind passed by.
  • Jing He sensed imprisoned, electricity-depleted Electric-type Pokémon inside the Abandoned Power Plant and realized Pokémon Hunters had trapped them and weakened Zapdos.
  • Jing He asked Gengar and Dragonair to give Zapdos a Charge so it could retaliate against the Pokémon Hunters.

Ch. 257I Got Played Like a Fish

Jing He restored Zapdos enough to earn its trust, then used himself as bait to draw Pokémon Hunters Stahl and Maya out of the Abandoned Power Plant. With his Pokémon and Zapdos defeating the hunters, the chapter ended as Gengar noticed a floating phone nearby.

  • Maya and Stahl watched Jing He battle Zapdos and waited to capture the weakened Legendary Pokémon, but a blizzard blocked their cameras.
  • Jing He fed Zapdos Energy Cubes and Energy Roots while Gengar, Dragonair, and Kubfu fought it, restoring some of its strength and earning its trust.
  • Jing He ordered Zapdos to attack the Abandoned Power Plant, forcing Stahl and Maya to emerge with their Pokémon.
  • Little Ninetales suppressed Tyranitar's Sandstorm, while Jing He's Pokémon defeated the hunters' team and Kubfu knocked Stahl and Maya unconscious.
  • Jing He told Zapdos to finish the hunters with Thunderbolt, and Gengar noticed a floating phone beside him.

Ch. 258The North Wind’s Blessing

Gengar discovered that the flying phone was Rotom and amused itself by posing for pictures before deleting the ones it disliked. After Zapdos and Suicune left Jing He with gifts and a blessing for Ninetales, Professor Sakuragi offered to help Jing He find a Pokémon-catching assistant, but Rotom was nowhere to be found.

  • Gengar realized the flying phone was Rotom, posed for its pictures, frightened it with Shadow Balls, and deleted unwanted photos.
  • Zapdos shared its remaining electricity with the weakened Electric-type Pokémon before leaving Jing He a golden feather.
  • Suicune arrived, recognized Jing He and Ice Ninetales, and granted Ninetales the Blessing of the North Wind.
  • Jing He hugged Ninetales and was chilled by its strengthened cold, then Gengar licked him and left him partly paralyzed.
  • Professor Sakuragi offered to find Jing He a helper for catching Pokémon, then searched for Rotom as its voice came from behind Gengar.

Ch. 259Rotom: This Isn’t the Car to Kindergarten!

At the Sakuragi Institute, Jing He caught Professor Sakuragi’s photography-loving Rotom after promising to help it meet a great photographer. Rotom then discovered that neither Gengar’s phone nor Jing He’s phone was safe for it to enter.

  • Professor Sakuragi imported data about Zapdos and Suicune while Jing He learned that Officer Jenny had taken the Pokémon Hunters away.
  • Professor Sakuragi suggested that Rotom join Jing He as a useful sixth Pokémon, and Rotom became fascinated by Gengar’s photography skills.
  • Jing He promised Rotom a chance to meet a great photographer, and Rotom entered a Luxury Ball, agreeing to join him.
  • Rotom fled Gengar’s phone in terror, then bounced out of Jing He’s phone before it could enter.

Ch. 260Boss Giovanni, Is There Enough for Everyone?

After rejoining the film crew, Jing He learned that Team Rocket had identified the buyer behind the Pokémon Hunters he arrested. Sakaki proposed targeting the Crazy Collector, Gilruta, and Jing He asked whether everyone who knew about the plan would get a share.

  • Jing He returned to the shore with Rotom and had it take over the little boat’s generator while his Pokémon relaxed and trained during the trip.
  • Jing He told Gengar to warn him if an unfamiliar Pokémon tried to enter his shadow, then reached the film crew near sunset.
  • Jing He praised the Team Rocket trio for their work, promised they could take a short break after filming, and offered to help them if they needed anything.
  • Mato told Jing He that Sakaki was calling, and Sakaki revealed that the buyer behind the Pokémon Hunters was Gilruta, the Crazy Collector.
  • Sakaki suggested targeting Gilruta, and Jing He asked if everyone who heard about the plan would get a share.

Ch. 261The Final Badge and the Shadow

Jing He received the Cerulean Gym’s Blue Badge without a battle and registered for the Pokémon League, then set off for Indigo Plateau. As his group traveled, a mysterious Pokémon emerged from the shadows, noticed the Rainbow Wing, and wondered why it was still shining.

  • Kasumi recognized Jing He, agreed to give him the Blue Badge because the Gym’s Pokémon were injured, and exchanged phone numbers with him.
  • After collecting all the Badges, Jing He registered for the Pokémon League with Rotom’s help, using Rotom to complete the six-member team requirement.
  • Professor Oak called Jing He and told him to register in person at Indigo Plateau before the deadline, so Jing He rented a car and began the trip to Mt. Silver.
  • Gengar sensed something beneath the Rotom SUV but found nothing, while a small Pokémon emerged from a patch of shade behind the vehicle.
  • The shadow Pokémon picked up a stick after sensing an evil aura, then discarded it and wondered why the Rainbow Wing was still sparkling.
