The Pigeon Selling ██ IIII "Time is almost up, coo..."
The Pigeon lit another vote. This time, the flame illuminated everything around it. A huge pile of votes appeared in the firelight, so dazzling, so enticing.
"I'm writing, coo!" the Pigeon cried. "Coo! Please give me a vote, coo! Coo knows that once the flame goes out, all of this will disappear, coo! Just like that warm stove, those beautiful female pigeons, and that lovely Christmas tree, it'll all disappear, coo!"
The Pigeon wanted to keep the votes, so it pulled a button out from beneath its wing and flew into the air.
Once it reached a certain height, it pressed the button.
The city below erupted in a fierce light, as bright as a hundred suns...
Along with the New Year's chimes, many people saw their grandmothers.
The Pigeon flapped its wings and flew toward the next city.
"That pigeon was huge."
People said.
After a good night's sleep, refreshed and clear-headed, they had already forgotten that they had seen their grandmothers the night before.
Just as no one knew how many cities that pigeon had brought light to, or how many buttons it still had.
