That night, Anvis began his daily Meditation Technique as usual.
As his personal Meditation Technique circulated, dense mental power rose and fell like tides within his mental space. With every ebb and flow, it grew a little more condensed and powerful.
Who knew how long passed...
In a daze, Anvis looked around blankly.
All around him stretched a desolate, silent Gray Plain. Gray-white Rocks of varying sizes lay scattered across the utterly flat, gravelly ground, with not a single plant in sight.
At that moment, he was riding a horse, slowly making his way along a long Gray Stone Path.
The road ahead was not straight, but curved slightly as it extended toward the endlessly distant Gray-White Mountains that seemed like part of the backdrop.
The sky appeared shrouded in thick clouds, dim and grayish-white, giving off an intensely oppressive feeling.
The clip-clop of hooves echoed over the quiet road.
Strangely, Anvis did not feel that anything was wrong.
He did not know where he was going, nor did he know what he was meant to do.
He only wanted to keep moving forward, toward the endlessly distant, seemingly eternal gray-white horizon beneath a sky that glimmered faintly with gray-white light.
...The horizon?
A trace of doubt flickered through his heart, and Anvis vaguely sensed a feeling of discord, as though something was amiss.
Suddenly, a violent pounding of hooves sounded from behind him.
Anvis instinctively turned to look. A figure radiating endless holy light, carrying an utterly Despair-inducing aura of terrifying oppression, was rapidly chasing after him on a gray-black steed! An overwhelming terror seized his heart. Anvis frantically clamped his legs around his horse's belly, urging it into a desperate sprint as he tried to escape the figure behind him.
But things did not go as he wished.
