An Uproar on All Sides

Inside the Municipal Council building, the two councilors directly responsible for the Crisis Affairs Center stood and sat before a broad glass curtain wall. The room was dim, but an enormous Domain Field screen was powering up.

"Our Arrest Team has already been dispatched. The Union sent word that Manager Chen from the Handling Bureau is extremely powerful. They want us to take him seriously."

"It doesn't matter. The airship squadron has already been sent, and the modified weapons are on their way. Besides, isn't it better if they make a bigger scene?" the councilor speaking said with amusement. "The bigger the disturbance they cause, the less chance there is of settling this."

The other councilor held a glass of vivid red wine. Watching the gradually sharpening glow of the Domain Field reflected in it, he gave the glass a slight turn and said, "Then make sure all the main districts of Central City can receive the broadcast."

All the media outlets under the council's control were now telling the public that these people returning to Central City from outside were suspected of carrying highly infectious contaminants. The contaminants had little effect on the carriers themselves, but allowing them to move about freely could pose a grave danger to everyone in Central City.

Yet these people refused to be tested. Not only had they ignored repeated attempts at persuasion, but they had also used the privileges granted to them by the Handling Bureau, the Defense Department, and even the Government Affairs Hall to kill the personnel sent to conduct the tests.

Worse still, they must have known there was something wrong with them. Otherwise, why would they refuse testing? Why would they resist? This showed an utter disregard for citizens' lives and posed an enormous threat to Central City's safety!
