Tracing the Hidden Trail

The armed convoy had only pulled up across from the hotel, yet it had already put the hotel's security on alert. Chen Chuan walked toward them, his expression calm and natural.

But as he approached, the people in the convoy grew uneasy. Those who had been chatting and laughing fell silent, their faces stiffening. Their fingers tightened around their weapons without their realizing it, and some even pointed their guns straight ahead.

They had not actually sensed anything. Years spent on the edge of life and death had simply given them a keen instinct for danger.

Chen Chuan's Bio-Field did not extend outward in the slightest. Yet the length and rhythm of his stride, and the ease with which he faced all of them, created a sense of pressure they found hard to bear.

Bao Mi noticed immediately. He raised a hand and pressed it downward. "Relax, guys. This is our employer. He's the one we're escorting today." The others exchanged glances, and their expressions eased a little.

Bao Mi nodded to Mo Li. She came forward carrying an outer shirt. "Sir, we prepared this for you. Don't worry, we washed it beforehand. It's clean."

Chen Chuan thanked her, took it, and put it on. With his figure concealed, he looked much like most people here and stood out less.

Even so, merely standing there, he still felt different from everyone around him.

Bao Mi called out and invited him into his vehicle. Then he leaned out and shouted toward the front. The lead vehicle started off, and the others followed one by one.

Bao Mi pulled his head back in and said with an apologetic smile, "Sir, my squad's a bunch of brutes. They never think before they act. Please don't mind what happened just now."
