Ch. 182Jaya and Sky Island

Gawain’s group left Navarone Fortress after meeting Jonathan, arranging supplies, and inspiring Shepherd to seek training at Marine Headquarters. After seven days at sea, they reached Jaya, where Rayleigh revealed Sky Island’s location and Gawain planned to assess Jaya before ringing the Golden Bell.

  • At dinner, Gawain asked Jonathan to pass a message to Sakazuki inviting him to meet aboard the Dark Bird, and arranged fresh water and vegetables for his crew.
  • Uta performed at Navarone Fortress, and Gawain’s group sailed away at dawn after loading supplies.
  • Jonathan praised Gawain’s discipline, while Shepherd asked to leave the G-8 branch for two or three years of training at headquarters.
  • Jonathan agreed to recommend Shepherd, then told Jessica he believed Shepherd was leaving to seek advancement through his connections.
  • After seven days at sea, Rayleigh identified Jaya and explained that part of the island had risen to become Sky Island, where the Golden Bell stood.
  • Gawain agreed to ring the Golden Bell but proposed replacing it with an identical bronze bell, and said the group would first assess Jaya’s social landscape.

Ch. 183The Liar Noland Plan

Gawain planned to publicize Liar Noland's story and prove the Golden Bell of Sky Island existed, using the resulting attention to build public trust and recruit supporters. He ordered his group to seize Jaya's lawless southern territory and eliminate its most violent criminals before the crowds arrived.

  • Cricket warned Masira that a Celestial Dragon ship had come near Jaya and urged him to bring Shoujou back to safety.
  • Shoujou's crew approached Gawain's ship offering salvage services, but Hancock petrified them after Shoujou mentioned sexy ape girls.
  • Gawain's party towed the petrified Shoujou Pirates to Jaya's southern coast, and Shoujou later returned to Cricket carrying a flyer praising Liar Noland.
  • Gawain told his group to enlist Morgans and reporters to publicize their plan to find Sky Island's Golden Bell and defend Noland's reputation.
  • Gawain explained that proving the legend true would build public trust and attract recruits for Black Ice Terrace and the Logistics Department.
  • Gawain assigned Shiryu to lead the takeover of Jaya's lawless southern territory, ordering the group to kill violent outlaws and handle the remaining pirates according to their crimes.

Ch. 184Mock Town Massacre (In a Bad Mood, Bonus Chapter!)

Gawain and his allies surrounded Mock Town and began a violent assault on the pirates gathered there. Issho trapped the town with a gravity barrier and dropped its ships onto the central plaza as Gawain led the group inside to begin the purge.

  • Rossio dismissed the pirates fleeing Mock Town and mocked Ami for fearing the Celestial Dragon, while the pirates in Cherry Pie Tavern laughed and gambled.
  • Ami noticed a shadow outside, and a subordinate discovered that every ship on Jaya had been lifted into the sky.
  • Gawain sent Shirahoshi and Uta to the Southern Forest with Jinbe, then led the others toward Mock Town on floating earth raised by Issho.
  • Gion saw Marine corpses hanging at Mock Town's entrances and asked Gawain how many outlaws they could kill; Gawain ordered them to surround the town and kill anyone who charged.
  • Issho lifted the ships around Mock Town and smashed them into the central plaza, then created a gravity barrier that crushed fleeing outlaws.
  • Gawain drew Rokumei Kotetsu and entered Mock Town, ordering Lucci to summon the Black Ice Terrace members.

Ch. 185Leave None Behind

Gawain ordered the outlaws in Mock Town to be sorted by their crimes, but his announcement that only thirty thousand could survive sparked a mass killing among the prisoners. He abandoned the trial and ordered Shiryu to leave no one in the plaza alive, then headed for Jaya’s southern shore.

  • Gawain ordered his forces to kill the outlaws who refused to kneel while sparing those who surrendered for inspection.
  • Issho cleared a plaza in Mock Town, and Shiryu and Lucci swept the town, executing more than nine thousand people and gathering the survivors.
  • Gawain instructed Shakky, Lucci, and Shiryu to investigate the prisoners’ records and said that only thirty thousand would be left alive.
  • The prisoners panicked and began killing one another to survive, turning the plaza into a bloody arena.
  • Gawain recognized that the survival limit had caused the violence and ordered Shiryu to leave no one in the plaza alive before departing for Jaya’s southern shore.

Ch. 186Was Noland Good or Bad?

Gawain met Mont Blanc Cricket, Noland’s descendant, and confirmed that the Golden City of Shandora existed and that Noland had not lied about it. The group debated whether Noland had betrayed Jaya by leading its king to the island, while Gawain planned to ascend to Sky Island in front of Morgans’s reporters.

  • Jinbe’s guards detained Cricket, Masira, and Shojo near the Dark Bird Ship, but Gawain ordered them released after Shirahoshi and Uta spoke up for Cricket.
  • Cricket told Gawain he was Noland’s descendant and asked whether the Golden Bell and Golden City were real; Gawain confirmed they existed and said Rayleigh had seen the bell.
  • Cricket showed Noland’s Diary and explained how its maps and accounts convinced him that Noland’s adventures were true.
  • Gion and Jinbe argued that Noland had endangered Jaya by bringing its king and soldiers to seek its gold, while Cricket insisted the king had forced Noland to lead them there.
  • Gawain said the group would not judge Noland and announced that they would ascend to Sky Island before Morgans’s reporters once the reporters arrived.

Ch. 187The Beautiful "Truth"

Gawain prepared Golden Town to present a welcoming face to the world while using its bloody destruction to frighten the Underworld. As World Economic Journal reporters arrived for an interview, he told them he respected journalism and set the interview’s theme as “beautiful truth.”

  • Cricket directed Masira, Shojo, and the other workers to rebuild Mock Town as Golden Town and prepare for the reporters’ arrival.
  • World Economic Journal reporters arrived and saw that the former Lawless Area had been transformed, while veteran reporters feared that its inhabitants had been killed.
  • Morgans learned that Gawain had transformed Mock Town in five days and suspected that the original inhabitants had been massacred.
  • Gawain explained that he had spared and settled women and children, intending to cultivate a benevolent public image and a fearsome reputation among criminals.
  • Kalifa brought the reporters to Gawain, whose intimidating entourage made them kneel before they entered the tavern.
  • Gawain praised journalism, reassured the reporters, and indicated that the interview would present a “beautiful truth.”

Ch. 188A Mouthpiece Whose Words Matched His Heart?

Gawain gave reporters an interview about his past, his plan to expand the Sea Train, Golden Town’s development, and his belief that Noland’s Golden City had been swept into the sky. He prepared to lead an expedition to the sky island, while the reporters turned his words into a glowing account of his supposed selflessness and courage.

  • Gawain allowed the reporters to ask questions, then explained that he inherited leadership of the Gawain Family after his parents died in a shipwreck.
  • Gawain said his grief awakened his Conqueror's Haki and inspired him to create safer transportation, leading him to invest his wealth in expanding the Sea Train.
  • Gawain described arriving on Jaya and developing Golden Town with his companions, while the reporters portrayed the project as entirely benevolent.
  • Gawain said his investigation convinced him that Noland’s Golden City had been carried into the sky by an Upward Stream.
  • Gawain announced that he and his companions would sail into the sky to prove his theory and recover the Golden Bell, and the reporters depicted him as willingly risking his life.

Ch. 189White Sea and Enel

Gawain and his companions reached Sky Island aboard the Dark Bird Ship, where Rayleigh identified the former Jaya as the Golden City. After landing at the Temple of God, they learned that Gan Fall had been replaced by a new ruler named Enel, and the guards prepared to attack them.

  • Gawain approved the reporters’ notes and let them photograph the Dark Bird Ship taking off toward Sky Island.
  • Issho steered the ship through the Sea of Clouds, while Gion confirmed it could drown Devil Fruit users by testing it on Hancock.
  • The group emerged above Sky Island, and Rayleigh recognized the skull-shaped land as the Golden City and described the conflict between Jaya’s people and the Skypieans.
  • Gawain left Lucci to guard the Dark Bird Ship and flew with the others to the Temple of God, where Shirahoshi startled the guards.
  • Rayleigh claimed he was friends with Gandof, but a guard said Gan Fall was no longer god and that Enel ruled Sky Island.
  • The guards’ commander accused the group of being Gan Fall’s allies and ordered the soldiers to attack.

Ch. 190Enel's Miserable Defeat (Bonus Chapter, Bring on the Votes~)

Lucci fought Enel aboard the Dark Bird Ship, using a Seastone whip to threaten the lightning Logia before Enel overwhelmed him with Raigo. Gion arrived, knocked Enel out, and restrained him as Gawain and the others prepared to confront the threat on Sky Island.

  • Lucci sent Black Ice Terrace members and thousands of pigeons to infiltrate Sky Island before Enel appeared aboard the Dark Bird Ship.
  • Lucci fought Enel, discovered his lightning Logia powers, and retrieved a Seastone whip from the armory.
  • Lucci struck at Enel with the whip, forcing Enel to evade and recognize that the weapon could harm him.
  • Enel unleashed Raigo and pinned Lucci beneath a massive pillar of lightning.
  • Rayleigh used Conqueror's Haki to knock out God's Guard members, while McKinley warned Gawain's group about Enel and his forces.
  • Gion returned to the Dark Bird Ship, struck Enel unconscious, bound him with Lucci's Seastone whip, and learned his name.

Ch. 191Rumble-Rumble Fruit!

Gion captured Enel, and Gawain decided to send the Rumble-Rumble Fruit to Vegapunk for extraction so he could claim it. With Issho and Kuma racing to deliver Enel, Gawain led his crew toward the Temple of God to learn about Sky Island before deciding what to do with it.

  • Gion subdued Enel with Seastone restraints and brought him to Gawain, while Issho confirmed the fight had already ended.
  • Gawain declared that he wanted Enel's Rumble-Rumble Fruit and ordered Kuma and Issho to take Enel to Vegapunk for extraction.
  • Kuma launched himself and Issho toward Vegapunk's island, with Issho using gravity to increase their speed.
  • Gawain told his crew to explore Sky Island and understand its people and history before using force, then invited McKinley to guide them.
  • Rayleigh explained to McKinley that Gawain was greater than Sky Island's gods, and winged guards charged at the group as they climbed toward the Temple of God.

Ch. 192What Does Fair and Reasonable Mean?

Gawain and his crew climbed the Temple of God on Sky Island, overwhelming Enel’s priests and discovering signs that Enel had been preparing to build a gold ship. Rayleigh then led them toward the Poneglyph he and Roger had found there.

  • Gawain used Conqueror’s Haki to knock out Satori, Kotori, and the rest of God’s Legion as McKinley introduced them.
  • Uta struggled with the altitude, and Gawain carried her while Jinbe explained why the others had adapted to the height.
  • Jinbe, Hancock, and Shiryu swiftly defeated Dawu, Shura, and Nirvana, while Ohm surrendered before McKinley could introduce him.
  • Gawain’s crew explored the Temple of God and found a ship blueprint, gold that appeared to have flowed like liquid, and evidence of Enel’s plans to build a ship.
  • Rayleigh led the crew toward the Poneglyph he and Roger had discovered on Sky Island.

Ch. 193Old Rayleigh's Storytime

Rayleigh explained Poseidon's identity and began recounting Roger's voyage, the God Valley Incident, and the origins of the Three Emperors. He ended with the story of how Roger's crew took a Red Poneglyph rubbing from Linlin, the clue that would eventually lead them to Laugh Tale.

  • Rayleigh revealed that the historical Poneglyph described Poseidon, the Mermaid Princess who could command the Sea Kings, and said Shirahoshi was the princess foretold by Shyarly's divination.
  • Rayleigh told Jinbe that Fish-Man Island's other historical text was an apology letter from the Kozuki family to Joy Boy.
  • Rayleigh recalled that Roger's crew reached Mercury Island in 1485 but found nothing, and that Rocks launched his attack on God Valley the following year.
  • Rayleigh and Shakky recounted how Roger's crew confronted Rocks at God Valley, where Garp joined the battle and Rocks was killed after three days of fighting.
  • Rayleigh explained that Roger, Newgate, and Shiki became the era's Three Emperors, then recalled how Roger's crew seized a Red Poneglyph rubbing from Linlin's ship during a sixteen-day battle.

Ch. 194The Secret of Laugh Tale

Rayleigh recounted how Roger’s crew found Laugh Tale and explained the ancient history and plan behind the Great Treasure. He revealed that Joy Boy’s attempt to unite the world through a grand banquet ended in betrayal by Imu-Guel, and the chapter left the story at the moment the killing machines arrived.

  • Rayleigh explained that Roger’s crew found the four Road Poneglyphs and used them to locate the floating island of Laugh Tale in 1499.
  • Rayleigh described Laugh Tale’s banquet hall, the true Poneglyph, and the revelation that humans and the Celestial Dragons shared ancestors who came from the moon.
  • Rayleigh recounted how Nika brought peace among the races, how humans later fell into war and slavery, and how Joy Boy inherited Nika’s power and founded the Great Kingdom.
  • Rayleigh explained Joy Boy’s plan to destroy the Red Line with the Ancient Weapons and connect the islands into one world.
  • Rayleigh said Joy Boy invited representatives of every race to Laugh Tale for a celebratory banquet, but Imu-Guel betrayed him by sending enhanced killing machines led by Uranus.

Ch. 195We Are Not Joy Boy!

Rayleigh revealed the history of Joy Boy, Imu-Guel, and the Void Century, then encouraged Gawain to pursue their shared dream of a united, peaceful world. Gawain reaffirmed his own plan to improve ordinary people’s lives through the Sea Train before transforming the world, while Rayleigh said they could not become Joy Boy without the Nika Fruit.

  • Rayleigh told Gawain and the others that Imu-Guel betrayed Joy Boy, helped defeat him, and later founded the World Government with the other kings.
  • Gawain denied learning the hidden history from the Five Elders and explained that his earlier joke about launching Fish-Man Island had merely resembled Joy Boy’s plan.
  • Rayleigh recounted the Void Century, including the Kingdom of Joy’s destruction, the rise of the Clan of D, and the World Government’s eventual agreements with allied nations.
  • Rayleigh explained that Joy Boy’s successor was expected to possess the Nika Fruit, and recalled that Roger reached Laugh Tale knowing he was not the person the island awaited.
  • Gawain and Rayleigh pledged to realize their shared ideal, then sang with Uta as members of God’s Army outside the temple panicked and two set themselves on fire.
  • Gawain said he would pursue world unity by improving ordinary people’s lives through the Sea Train, and Rayleigh agreed that they could not become Joy Boy without the Nika Fruit.

Ch. 196Poor God Gan Fall

Gawain took control of Sky Island after defeating Enel and began introducing himself to its wary residents, while explaining his vision for a ship that united people from every faction. The chapter ended with Lucci bringing in the unconscious Gan Fall, whom Rayleigh recognized as an old friend.

  • Hancock, Gion, Shiryu, and Jinbe each declared their reasons for supporting Gawain over Joy Boy, and Rayleigh explained why he had joined Gawain’s crew.
  • Gawain described the Dark Bird Ship as a testing ground for people of different factions, then ordered Shiryu to raise its flag over God's Island and called for Sky Island’s government to be organized.
  • Gawain turned the four God's Priests and God's Army to stone after Dawu claimed they had been Enel’s captives, and he told McKinley to bring Gan Fall to the island’s largest square.
  • Gawain met the frightened residents of Angel Island, announced that Enel had been defeated, and put the children at ease with help from Uta and Shirahoshi’s candy.
  • Lucci arrived carrying an unconscious armored old man and reported that the Dark Bird Ship had been damaged; Rayleigh recognized the old man as Gan Fall and asked whether Lucci had killed him.

Ch. 197Gawain's Art of Rule

After Gion defeated Enel, Gawain took charge of Sky Island, restored Gan Fall’s way of life, and promised the residents an immediate feast while forbidding them to call anyone a god or kneel. He left Gan Fall to organize local governance and ordered Lucci and Kalifa to study Sky Island’s laws, economy, products, and population before proposing changes.

  • Gan Fall woke up, found Pierre safe, recognized Rayleigh, and learned that Roger and Oden had retired while Rayleigh now served under Gawain.
  • Gan Fall acknowledged Gawain as Sky Island’s new ruler, but Gawain stopped him from kneeling and ordered him never to kneel before anyone again.
  • Gawain told the Sky Islanders that Enel had lost, restored life as it had been under Gan Fall, announced a feast and concert, and forbade them from calling anyone a god or kneeling.
  • Gawain left Gan Fall to organize Sky Island’s rules and laws, then explained to Gion and the others why he would avoid imposing untested reforms on the residents.
  • Gawain ordered Lucci to record Gan Fall’s governing methods and Kalifa to investigate local products, markets, and the Angel Island population.

Ch. 198The Rumble-Rumble Fruit!

Issho and Kuma brought the Rumble-Rumble Fruit from Vegapunk’s laboratory back to Gawain on Sky Island, where Gawain ate it. Meanwhile, Kalifa reported on Sky Island’s trade prospects, and Gawain began planning to integrate its people through a shellfish-breeding operation.

  • Borsalino learned that Enel possessed the Rumble-Rumble Fruit and helped Issho and Kuma protect its transfer, while Issho stopped Vegapunk from delaying the extraction for research.
  • Kalifa reported that Sky Island’s shells and other goods could support trade with the Four Blues, and that Beli could replace the island’s Ace Ancient Coin.
  • Gawain ordered Kalifa to establish a well-paid shellfish-breeding operation, with wages in Beli and soil as year-end bonuses, to gradually win over the Sky Islanders.
  • Lucci offered Gawain the laws and regulations from Enel’s era as reference while reporting that Gan Fall’s policies were being restored.
  • Issho and Kuma returned to Sky Island with the Rumble-Rumble Fruit, and Gawain ate it.

Ch. 199This Is the Strongest Logia!

Gawain ate the entire Rumble-Rumble Fruit and discovered its lightning powers, speed, and instinctive danger sense. After fleeing Gion’s attack and returning to the Dark Bird Ship, he began testing his new abilities and learned that his body could separate into lightning, though Gion warned him not to risk separating his head.

  • Gawain devoured the Rumble-Rumble Fruit, and its first electrical discharge startled Hancock and sent her hurrying back to her room.
  • Gawain tested his new lightning powers on the deck, dodged Kalifa’s Armament Haki punch by dispersing part of his body, and struck her with a lightning spear.
  • Gion attacked, and Gawain’s danger sense sent him streaking twenty kilometers away before he returned to the Dark Bird Ship.
  • Gawain discovered that his hair had become an afro and separated the top of his head to inspect it, prompting Gion to scold and punch him.
  • Gawain recovered on a beach chair and assessed the Rumble-Rumble Fruit’s aerial mobility, speed, attacks, and low stamina consumption.

Ch. 200Don't Be Controlled by Power!

After eating the Rumble-Rumble Fruit, Gawain tested its electrical and magnetic abilities at the Temple of God and learned to use a current loop to control molten gold. Gion warned him that the fruit was making him impatient, and Gawain recognized that he needed to control its influence.

  • Gawain traveled to the Temple of God, heated gold with lightning, and began experimenting with how electricity could generate magnetism.
  • Gan Fall rushed to the temple, where Rayleigh explained that Gawain was producing the lightning after eating Enel's former fruit.
  • Gawain used a current loop to create a magnetic field, float molten gold, and begin understanding Thunder Metallurgy.
  • Gawain sent lightning through his muscles to test another application, but the pain made him transform into lightning.
  • Gion stopped Gawain and told him the Rumble-Rumble Fruit was making him too impatient, and Gawain admitted she was right.

Ch. 201Bioelectricity and Mantra

After eating the Rumble-Rumble Fruit, Gawain discovered that its bioelectricity-enhanced senses let him perceive people and attacks with what seemed like Observation Haki. Rayleigh tested his limits, and the chapter left Gawain with a new training regimen focused on mastering Armament Haki and improving his Observation Haki.

  • Gawain calmed himself after realizing the Rumble-Rumble Fruit had made him unusually impulsive, then tested his ability to carry others at extreme speed and brought everyone back to the Dark Bird Ship.
  • Gawain sensed Jinbe and Rayleigh’s movements through their bioelectricity and discussed recruiting Aramaki, resolving the Shandia conflict, and staying on Sky Island for a while.
  • Gion attacked Gawain with Kompira and Armament Haki-coated baseballs, but Gawain used bioelectricity and airborne microorganisms to sense and evade them.
  • Rayleigh struck Gawain with a sheath using Advanced Conqueror’s Haki, demonstrating that Gawain’s new perception did not let him avoid every attack.
  • Gawain revealed that he could sense and hear activity within a two-kilometer radius, and Shiryu and Issho judged his Observation Haki to be far beyond its beginner level.
  • Gawain’s training shifted toward Armament Haki, while Issho increased his lessons in Observation Haki and Rayleigh urged him to become strong enough to defeat Garp.
