Cement Sealed Heart Is a Little Loose (Revised)
After walking Feng Nanshu home, Jiang Qin returned to the dormitory through the night. The moment he opened the door, a cloud of smoke rushed into his face, making him choke and immediately retreat several steps.
"Did you set the dorm on fire while I was gone?" Jiang Qin's eyebrows shot up.
Zhou Chao chuckled. "Jiang Ge, why did you come back so late?"
"I had something to do, so I went out for dinner."
Jiang Qin walked in and fanned the air twice with his hand. After looking around carefully, he saw that Zhou Chao was playing on his phone, while Cao Guangyu was still frantically making posts. The source of the smoke, meanwhile, was Ren Ziqiang.
That guy was sitting in a chair, staring blankly out at the night, a half-burned cigarette between his fingers. A drooping slipper hung from his raised left foot, while cigarette butts covered the floor beneath him. He looked utterly miserable, and the light had vanished from his eyes.
The scene looked strangely familiar. Fire Cloud Evil God?
Jiang Qin looked at Zhou Chao in bewilderment. "What happened to Lao Ren? Has he started cultivating?"
"He wanted to ask Pan Xiu out today, but then he found out that Pan Xiu was getting really close with a third-year senior from our department. They were practically flirting, and even..."
"Stop, stop, stop. Enough."
Jiang Qin immediately cut him off, his face filled with righteousness. "Lao Ren must be suffering terribly right now. You still want to make him relive it all? That's extremely immoral!"
Zhou Chao immediately shut his mouth after hearing that, while Ren Ziqiang cast him a grateful look.
There was nothing shameful about liking someone. But watching the person you liked get hit on by another man, then being mocked by your roommates afterward, would make anyone feel terrible.
Jiang Qin changed his clothes, turned on the computer, logged into the administrator backend, and began checking the website.
Shi Miaomiao had already obtained an account and started serializing her original novel. She had posted thirty thousand words to launch it, but because the platform had no real users yet, she hadn't received much feedback.
Besides that, the Literary Society led by Dong Wenhao had opened internal accounts and was gradually uploading manuscripts.
The most impressive was Cao Guangyu. Although he wasn't being paid, his "My Plain and Unremarkable Life as a Rich Second Generation" series had already reached its thirty-fifth post.
Jiang Qin clicked in and skimmed through it.
That bastard Cao Guangyu was no longer satisfied with showing off his real life. He had started stealing pictures online to show off.
In the red wine installment, Lao Cao said Lafite was for amateurs and that he usually drank straight from the bottle. A real man should drink Romanée-Conti, the finest wine produced by France's oldest winery.
In the luxury watch installment, Lao Cao said Rolex was something only nouveau riche wore. He usually preferred buying Patek Philippe, and he liked Patek Philippe's slogan even more: "You never actually own a Patek Philippe. You merely look after it for the next generation."
In the school beauty girlfriend installment, Lao Cao said he was being relentlessly pursued by his high school's school beauty and was deeply troubled because he preferred his own adorable angel-level sweetheart. But the high school beauty refused to let go and kept pestering him. He was now asking netizens online what he should do.
Jiang Qin was slightly stunned. Why the hell am I looking in a mirror again? "Lao Jiang, when will this website be able to upload videos? I want to upload a workout video showing off my abs." Cao Guangyu suddenly turned around.
Jiang Qin stared at him blankly. "You have abs?"
"I have hands. I can download them."
"Heh. You're even mixing Chinese and English now. That's quite a way to show off. The video function will have to wait. It's still being developed."
Cao Guangyu pouted, looking somewhat disappointed. Without videos, he could never bring his showboating to its peak.
Jiang Qin ignored him and turned back to check the backend data. As he watched, he suddenly noticed a real user account that had been registered just one minute ago—Magic Eye Girl Feng Nanshu.
"?"
Oh, right. During dinner, he had asked the girls in their dormitory to help test the website. Feng Nanshu had probably taken his words to heart, so she had registered an account as soon as she returned.
Jiang Qin crossed one leg over the other, drinking cola as he stared at the screen, intending to see what Little Rich Woman would post.
That was the internet. To people with the proper permissions, no internet user had any privacy online.
Things like hiding posts, making them invisible to certain people, or making them visible only to oneself were all complete nonsense. In an administrator's eyes, they were entirely useless.
Magic Eye Girl Feng Nanshu: "What should I do if I'm a little afraid of people?"
Once the keyword "what should I do" was triggered, the automatic reply program immediately went into action.
Reply 1: "Don't worry. You're amazing, so you'll definitely be fine! Keep it up!"
Reply 2: "Believe in yourself. Don't hesitate!"
Magic Eye Girl Feng Nanshu: "What should I do if I'm not very good at chatting with people?"
Reply 1: "Don't worry. You're amazing, so you'll definitely be fine! Keep it up!"
Reply 2: "Believe in yourself. Don't hesitate!"
Seeing this, Jiang Qin nearly sprayed cola out of his nose.
He discovered that these universal automatic replies had an obvious flaw: triggering the same keyword repeatedly would produce almost identical answers.
That wouldn't do. He had to get Su Nai to fix it before the promotion began.
At the same time, Little Rich Woman continued making posts, seemingly unaware that something was strange about the replies—or perhaps the system had lagged and she hadn't seen them yet.
Magic Eye Girl Feng Nanshu: "What should I do if I want to go out and have fun with a boy every day?"
Magic Eye Girl Feng Nanshu: "Why do I feel a little itchy inside when I go out to have fun with a boy?"
At this point, Jiang Qin slowly uncrossed his legs. His eyes went slightly blank, and an inexplicable feeling rose in his heart, leaving him faintly restless.
Magic Eye Girl Feng Nanshu: "Can Good Friends live together for an entire lifetime?"
Magic Eye Girl Feng Nanshu: "Do you think the name Jiang Qin sounds nice?"
After the latest two questions appeared, Feng Nanshu seemed to realize that the website's replies were a little strange, so she stopped asking new questions.
Jiang Qin looked at those questions and couldn't help giving a soft laugh. Then he felt lost for a moment before quickly ignoring the ripples stirring in his heart.
Only dogs fall in love. Making money is the way to go. Stop thinking about all that random nonsense.
Jiang Qin opened QQ and reported the problem he had just discovered to Su Nai, asking her to modify the automatic replies so that repeatedly triggering the same keyword wouldn't produce identical responses.
After they finished chatting, Jiang Qin planned to shut down the computer and go to sleep, but he suddenly noticed that Feng Nanshu's account had lit up again.
Magic Eye Girl Feng Nanshu: "Can you tell me what liking someone means?"
Jiang Qin's breathing hitched slightly, and he immediately shut off the computer.
It was over. The seal around his heart really did seem to be loosening.
No, no. He had to find some cement and seal his heart back up.
"Lao Zhou, tell me what happened to Ren Ziqiang just now. Be as detailed as possible. The more heartbreaking, the better!"
Ren Ziqiang abruptly raised his head, his entire face turning green. "I'm already this heartbroken, and you still have the nerve, Lao Jiang? That's immoral!"
Jiang Qin spat to the side. "When you told Pan Xiu that I'd been pursuing someone else for three years, did you think about morality? Hurry up, Lao Zhou. Get on with it!"
"Sure thing!" Zhou Chao felt incredibly excited.
He was from southern China and had a strong dialect accent. But, to be fair, that little accent made his storytelling surprisingly entertaining.
According to him, Ren Ziqiang had sprayed a full half-kilogram of hair gel that morning before working up the courage to ask Pan Xiu out. But the moment he arrived beneath the girls' dormitory, he saw Pan Xiu playing around and laughing with a senior at the entrance. They were chatting and joking, and her shoulder strap had almost slipped into view.
Ren Ziqiang had wilted on the spot. After returning to the dorm, he began chain-smoking so furiously that it felt as though the entire room had caught fire.
"Pan Xiu's pretty impressive. Military training isn't even over, and she already knows a senior?"
After hearing everything, Jiang Qin felt secure. His heart was sealed with cement. Love really was something out of a fantasy. Making money was the proper path.
This felt great! If he had Lao Zhou tell the story again tomorrow morning, it would probably keep him energized all day.
