Scrimgeour stood at the door, looking over the empty office. Expressionless, he walked to his desk, pulled out his chair, and began reading the newspaper in his hand.
He had only one simple assessment for today's Daily Prophet headline: "A dying struggle."
Although Fudge was desperately using the Daily Prophet to whitewash himself, he was still no match for the other newspapers and the damning evidence they had revealed.
The calls for Fudge to step down were growing louder throughout the wizarding world. Scrimgeour knew that some of it came from Fudge's political enemies targeting him, but Fudge truly had done a terrible job this past year. He had not only turned the Ministry of Magic into a laughingstock, but also caused other wizards to lose faith in him.
Setting aside the Daily Prophet, he continued reading the other papers.
Most newspapers had their own focus. One of them highlighted Albert's solo battle against the Ministry Aurors, portraying him as the next Dumbledore.

Scrimgeour put down the newspaper and looked around the empty Auror Office, falling into brief silence.
Just then, hurried footsteps sounded outside, and someone soon knocked on the office door.
"Come in," said Scrimgeour.
"Director, St. Mungo's Hospital for Magical Maladies and Injuries has informed us that the Hogwarts professors have just sent the Aurors to the hospital." The witch secretly watched Scrimgeour's expression and lowered her voice. "The Aurors are undergoing restorative treatment. They're only somewhat weak and should recover in about two days."
"I understand."
Scrimgeour rose and headed outside. He intended to visit those unlucky ones at St. Mungo's Hospital for Magical Maladies and Injuries himself.
