"Professor McGonagall is all right, isn't she?"

"Minerva is fine."

"The Pink Toad actually let Professor McGonagall off so easily?"

Ron found it unbelievable. From what he knew of Umbridge, she clearly was not the sort of toad who would let things go so easily.

"Umbridge intended to use force at the time."

"Force?"

"She brought quite a few Aurors and was determined to obtain the home addresses of the expelled students," Professor Flitwick said.

"What happened afterward?" Hermione asked.

"Minerva said she had burned those records," Professor Flitwick said softly. "Albert had anticipated this day and reminded her to burn that information."

"Umbridge believed her?" Harry thought that was highly unlikely.

"Of course Umbridge refused to believe her. She wanted to use Veritaserum on Minerva." Professor Flitwick's eyes were filled with barely concealed disgust.

"That woman is insane. I really don't understand why she has so much prejudice against Muggle-born wizards."

Hermione simply could not comprehend Umbridge's madness.

"Later, they nearly came to blows."

At the time, Flitwick had considered attacking Umbridge and then leaving Hogwarts.

"Umbridge actually backed down?" Ron could hardly believe it.

"Minerva agreed to take a small amount of Veritaserum herself to prove that she truly had not lied, but Umbridge still refused to let it go." Even now, Professor Flitwick felt that he should have taught Umbridge a harsh lesson back then.

"I've never seen anyone as vicious as her," Harry said angrily. "If I ever get the chance, I'll use a Memory Charm to turn her into an idiot."

Ron and Hermione both looked at Harry in surprise.

"What happened afterward?"

"Snape showed up and put an end to that farce," Professor Flitwick said with a frown.

"Snape?"

"I suppose his master wanted to use Hogwarts to control the parents of those students."
