The Death Eaters had intended to deal with the Aurors occupying Hogsmeade Village, and now they suffered the same kind of beating.
The results were terrifyingly good.
After that barrage, most of the Dark wizards lost their lives outright. Even those lucky enough to survive the bombardment had lost most of their ability to resist.
Only the Dementors, which were immune to the explosions, recovered from the bombardment and surged toward the Aurors who had Apparated outside the village.
The Aurors had naturally come prepared when they returned at once. They each summoned their Patronus, which collided with the mass of Dementors pouring toward them.
The outcome of that clash between black and white was already obvious.
The Dementors that charged headlong into the multitude of Patronuses scattered under the force of their natural counter, driven fleeing in every direction by the Patronuses.
The other Aurors, who had not stopped to summon Patronuses, charged straight into the village beneath their protection and systematically harvested every Dark wizard still able to stand.
The shell-shocked Dark wizards were no match for them and all fell beneath the Aurors' spells. Aberforth and the others followed behind, helping clean up the mess by finishing off every Dark wizard to ensure none of them suddenly sprang up and attacked their side.
Looking at the mangled corpses scattered everywhere, Aberforth could not help marveling at the power of Felix Felicis. The very thing those Dark wizards had wanted to do but failed to accomplish had somehow been achieved by him and his people.
At first, Aberforth had thought Albert was simply indulging in wild fantasies. Yet when they actually put the plan into action, it went astonishingly smoothly. Those Dark wizards had been like figures made of mud, dealt with effortlessly.
That was hardly surprising.
