Final Thoughts: On June 27, 2019, I uploaded the story "Days Studying at Hogwarts." On January 9, 2024, I typed the words "The End" at the end of a chapter of "Days Studying at Hogwarts." It took nearly four years and six months.
This book was finally finished.
That was a huge relief. At the very least, I wrapped it up according to my original plan.
I had originally expected to spend two years writing a two-million-word HP fanfiction, but plans rarely kept up with change. Back then, I probably never could have dreamed that this book would take so long to write, much less that by the time "Days Studying at Hogwarts" was completed, it would have reached 4.05 million words.
That was absolutely unprecedented in my long writing career, and without a doubt a huge challenge for me. The long passage of time gradually wore away my original passion for writing. What probably kept me going was that there were still many people subscribing.
Around last summer, not long after I passed my driving test, I had planned to finish this book in one go when the subscriptions were suddenly cut in half. That unexpected blow completely broke me. Fortunately, the book was already close to completion then, and I kept telling myself that I would be able to finish it soon.
Ever since that blow, I had been too lazy to care about anything, but the road to completion turned out to be even longer than I had imagined. Especially last November, when the coughing nearly killed me, and I continued feeling unwell throughout december. I actually wanted to stop and rest then, but I did not know whether I would still be able to keep going if I stopped.
After all, the book was nearly finished.
