"Good morning, darling."
Isobel closed the notebook in her hands, rose from the sofa, and gave Albert a warm hug and a good-morning kiss.
"I thought you'd sleep a little longer?"
Albert held Isobel for a moment and whispered in her ear, "Katrina wore herself out pretty badly last night. I reckon she won't wake up until noon."
He understood what Isobel meant. He also knew he ought to stay by Katrina's side, so that this girl experiencing it for the first time could see her lover the moment she woke up. That would have made her feel more at ease.
But Albert was genuinely a little hungry, so he got up to eat something and replenish his strength.
"How did it feel?"
"How did it feel?"
"Yes, how did it feel?"
Seeing the interested look on Isobel's face, Albert suddenly had no idea how to answer.
Not long after he sat down, the House-elf Kara brought over an especially lavish breakfast. Albert speared a piece of beef and slowly chewed it. After considering his words, he swallowed and said to his wife, "It feels like I've ruined another pretty girl."
"I don't see a shred of guilt on your face," Isobel teased. "It seems Katrina satisfied you well enough."
"Being liked by a pretty girl really is a wonderful feeling." After quickly finishing the last small piece of fried egg on his plate, Albert picked up a slice of bread and took a bite. "You taught Katrina quite a lot," he said indistinctly.
"Katrina isn't exactly a qualified partner." Isobel gave her sister a blunt assessment. "I was always worried she wouldn't even make a good girlfriend."
"Most girls are like that, really!" Albert finished the last of his bread, picked up the milk beside him and drained it
