The man at the front warmly greeted Alice. "They said you went out early this morning."

"My name is Green, Green Water, Ravenclaw's Quidditch captain," the man named Green introduced himself.
Alice vaguely guessed why he had come looking for her, but she still asked, "Mr. Green, what did you want to see me about?"
"Mr. Anderson used to be an exceptionally skilled Seeker. I'm sure you inherited his talent in that area, so... would you like to take part in the Quidditch tryouts?"
After word of Alice's genius had spread, Green had begun entertaining the same idea.
"First Years probably can't become Quidditch players, can they?" Alice declined tactfully.
"An exception can be made," Green said without hesitation. "You could also join as a reserve player."
Every House held tryouts each year. More exposure to and understanding of Quidditch helped cultivate the qualities of students who wished to join a Quidditch team.
"It's fine if you don't participate. Once our tryouts are over, we'll also make time to let you have a go at Quidditch."
