Secret Base

This Halloween Eve was a rare good day for most Hogwarts students. They could spend the day having fun in Hogsmeade, then attend the Halloween feast that evening—double the joy.

Albert was naturally no exception.

This was his last chance to relax before taking part in the Magical School Potions Tournament.

After breakfast, he met up with Isobel in the Great Hall, and the two left the castle together, heading toward the school gates.

Two hooded Dementors stood guard on either side of the school gates, filling the passing students with fear and unease.

As soon as he approached the gates, Albert felt an inexplicable chill rushing toward him.

"Don't worry, I'm here." Albert reached out and took Isobel's hand, then drew his wand from his pocket and summoned his Patronus. He turned it into a ball of light that circled around them, shielding Isobel from the Dementors' influence.

His actions drew many curious looks from the students. Everyone wondered what the ball of light surrounding Albert and Isobel was, but no one came over to greet them.

As they passed through the gates, Albert could clearly sense the two Dementors deliberately, or perhaps instinctively, sucking away the happy emotions of the passing students. They would undoubtedly have a full meal.

A cold wind blew outside. It was the effect of the large number of Dementors roaming around Hogwarts; otherwise, the weather would not have turned so dreadful.

Walking to Hogsmeade was hardly pleasant. Many students had no choice but to wrap scarves around their faces to keep the exposed skin from aching under the biting wind.
