Gai Bernard had been in a terrible mood lately.
Ever since losing to Albert Anderson in the first round of the Magical School Potions Tournament a few days ago, he had realized that the talent for Potions he had been proud of since childhood, along with the pride in his heart, had been ruthlessly trampled beneath someone's feet and ground into mud.
He still remembered his grandfather telling him when he was young, "You have a great talent for Potions."
Gai Bernard had not disappointed everyone's expectations. After entering Beauxbatons Academy of Magic, he had displayed astonishing talent in Potions and entered the Potions Championship, intending to use this once-every-seven-years event as a stepping stone to rise even further.
However, everything had changed over the past few months.
His grandfather, now President of the Extraordinary Potion Makers Association, had told him that if he wanted to win the Potions Championship, he had to follow his arrangements.
Gai Bernard had rejected it from the bottom of his heart. He believed that his talent and ability could win him the Golden Cauldron. He had no need to cheat, nor did he disdain to do so.
"Your talent for Potions is only a little better than everyone else's. Most of what you have achieved today came from the enormous effort I put into teaching and training you from childhood." President Bernard cruelly shattered his grandson's dream. "I told you that you had great talent because I hoped you would remain passionate and confident about Potions. But now you're an adult. It's time to face reality. The world has never been as simple as you imagined."
