Katrina sat in the dining room, flipping through the front-page headline of today's Daily Prophet, and found herself looking at a strangely familiar scene in the paper once again.
Not long ago, the Daily Prophet's front page had similarly gone all out reporting the good news of Albert Anderson winning the Barnabus Finkley Prize for Exceptional Spell-Casting Technique.

The girl carefully read the article, comparing it with what she had heard from others, and quickly lost interest in the report. At least seventy percent of it had been made up.
She still remembered Isobel saying that Albert's speech after receiving the award had been especially cool. He had directly intimidated all the wizards who had questioned whether someone his age deserved the prize.
Should I give up the Christmas Ball? Katrina had guessed why Albert had invited her to this year's Christmas Ball. She was deeply conflicted, even a little angry. However, Isobel had made it very clear that she did not intend to attend the Christmas Ball and was even willing to lend Katrina her gown.

Setting down the Daily Prophet, Katrina raised her head toward the kitchen and spotted a busy figure. Ever since Isobel had invited her two female friends over, Katrina had suddenly discovered that a House-elf had inexplicably appeared in their home. It not only helped prepare their three daily meals but also took care of the household chores.
She had once asked Isobel what the House-elf was about.
"I borrowed it from someone. It'll go back after a while."
