Everyone followed Old Chang into his storeroom. Inside the enormous collection room, only a few scattered items remained. Some of the tables and chairs were missing legs or arms. Although they looked fairly old, judging from the extent of the damage and the materials used, it was obvious that none of the furniture was worth much.
Xiang Facai looked around, curled his lips, and asked, "Old Chang, is this all the junk you have?"
Old Chang gave an awkward smile. "That's everything. How about you take a look around first? We can discuss the details later."
"All right, all right. Let's just pick something." Xiang Facai waved his hand and gestured for everyone to look around freely.
Chu Chen glanced around. The antique shelves were already completely empty, and he had no interest in the other large pieces of furniture. When he saw two boxes beside the shelves, however, his mind stirred slightly, and he walked straight over with Wu Ke.
One box was made of cardboard and the other of wood. Chu Chen opened the wooden box and found it filled with copper ink boxes. Judging from the several layers inside, there had to be at least fifty or sixty pieces. Even the materials used to make them were of good quality. No wonder they had been packed in a wooden box.
Wu Ke picked up one of the ink boxes, examined it, and said, "Copper ink boxes like this really aren't common. And the bamboo design on the lid has a lot of character. It must have been made by a famous artist, right?"
Chu Chen took the ink box and looked at it. "The painting was created by Chen Shizeng. It can indeed be considered the work of a famous artist. It's a very nice piece."
