Luo Jun rubbed his head and hovered in midair, staring at the protective barrier before him, where violent ripples spread from his impact.
So this is the City of Divine Favor? The entire city was covered by a transparent hemispherical barrier... Forget this ancient era—even in modern times, defenses like these would have seemed straight out of science fiction.
Just as Luo Jun was marveling at it, two strange eagle-headed humanoids with wings on their backs flew over. Holding spears, they called through the barrier, "Who are you, daring to trespass into Amgilla, land of divine favor?!"
"I'm here to visit Great god Karruth." Luo Jun smiled. It was better to be polite when facing someone who might truly be a demigod. "Great god Karruth?" The two creatures exchanged glances. "Amgilla is at a critical moment of survival. The great god has issued a divine oracle, and the entire city is under guard. Unauthorized persons are not permitted to enter."
"A critical moment?" Luo Jun froze slightly, then recalled the information he had obtained when he visited the Amgilla ruins before.
Amgilla had been destroyed by Emperor Menehses, its last ruler. To resist Evil God Dius's invasion, Menehses had built a massive pyramid under Karruth's divine oracle, hoping to amplify divine power and defeat the foreign enemy. But in the end, he failed. Amgilla vanished completely into a Different Space, and vast stretches of Ancient Parami's territory became desert...
Since the pyramid had already been built, did that mean this was during Emperor Menehses's reign? Evil God Dius... was he very likely the same person as Dias, the talent sealed by the Holy See? Was he about to invade Amgilla and cause Karruth's fall?
He had not expected to stumble into such a major event the moment he traveled back
