Epsilon Third Planet, underground bug hole.
A human Powered Armor squad was making its way through a spacious cavern.
To fight the insects, humanity naturally could not rely on flesh and blood alone. Powered Armor could be called the standard equipment of human soldiers. Ordinary Infantry Armor stood around two meters tall. Besides providing heavy protection, it could also carry heavy firepower. Its individual combat capability far surpassed even the old era's king of land warfare—the tank!
But the armor worn by this squad was clearly not standard issue. It stood over three and a half meters tall, like giants beside ordinary armor. The pilots inside did not need to extend their limbs into the armor's limbs. Aside from their heads remaining in the helmets to view information and operate the interface, their bodies and limbs were fully housed within the armor's enormous torso. Its controls were already somewhat similar to those of a mech.
This type of armor was clearly far more capable, and only elite squads assigned to dangerous missions could pilot it!
"Captain, this place is huge. I used to think insect nests were all narrow and dark." The youngest new recruit in the squad sighed. "This place must be dozens of meters high, right? And the rock walls are covered in glowing, sticky flesh. It isn't very bright, but at least we can see where we're going."
"That's fungal carpet," the captain at the front said. "It's your first time fighting in a bug hole, so be careful around this stuff. Most fungal carpets are merely environmental modifications that make life easier for the Insectoids, but some conceal Insectoid traps beneath them. Let your guard down for a moment, and you could be ambushed..."
As he spoke, the captain's detector suddenly sounded an alarm. He immediately
