Her shield shattered, Long Ya tightened her arms around Jiang Ping An, holding him like an iron band.
The Purple Divine Runes inscribed on her body raced as though they had come alive. Layers of purple light gathered and, in the blink of an eye, formed a shield three times thicker than before. Interwoven patterns covered its surface like fine scales, enclosing them both.
She shot backward, becoming a streak of Brilliant Purple Light that carried them away like a meteor, too fast to follow.
Behind them, the sea split into a long empty trail, only for the Dark Sea Water on either side to close over it.
She did not stop until they were dozens of yards away.
Long Ya's chest rose and fell. Fine beads of cold sweat appeared on her brow, and her eyes widened with alarm. She stared into the surrounding water, her voice trembling slightly.
"Something broke through my shield... but I didn't even see its shadow! It was almost certainly some mysterious Fierce Beast!"
She drove her Divine Sense outward with all her strength. It surged through the surrounding sea, sweeping inch by inch through the Pitch Black Sea Water as she watched for danger.
